Cruiser421 Posted March 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Has anyone stayed here pre-cruise? Just booked for our pre-cruise on Jewel Jan 2016... Across from where Jewel departs from and looks like a great hotel. Anyone have any feedback? They mentioned there is a free shuttle to the pier... LJJQ Posted April 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Old San Juan Sheraton a very nice hotel and casino situated across street from where cruise ship dock for day! It is in Old Town San Juan! Plenty to see! Is your ship normally home ported in San Juan? It may be docked over at the old Pan American Pier which is nearer to Condado Beach. Valiamo Posted May 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Has anyone stayed here pre-cruise? Just booked for our pre-cruise on Jewel Jan 2016... Across from where Jewel departs from and looks like a great hotel. Anyone have any feedback? They mentioned there is a free shuttle to the pier... Stayed there several years ago, the rooms were good, breakfast the next morning was average. It has a nice pool that looks over to the ships. We would stay there again (deciding on either this hotel or one by the Airport). There is not much in the area (or last not when were there). The taxi to the cruise pier was inexpensive (you could walk, but it is a long hike) and we shared it with another couple. It was interesting arriving around midnight on and walking into the lobby turned into a dance club, lots of party goers. Seems that they spill out of the night club and the party explodes in the lobby. View from our room Edited May 8, 2015 by Valiamo

Pookeybear1966 Posted May 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2015 We are staying here 2 days prior to our cruise. We arrive June 5th. I'm hoping they can do early checkin or hold our luggage til we can. Our flight lands in San Juan at 12pm (checkin is much later).
SMSACE6 Posted May 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2015 I was not a guest of the hotel, but the casino was kind of nice to me:) last November, I got off my cruise ship and crossed the street and this was the first place I came to..went in, and played a slot machine for about 45 minutes, and won close to 100.00 in several 10 and 20.00 wins, all in that time frame on one machine. I really wanted to see San Juan..so I cashed out, and went sight seeing. Glad I did that, because I know what happens if you stay too long:eek: Staff were also very pleasant. I would love to take a cruise out of San Juan, and would love to stay at the hotel.
sail7seas Posted May 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2015 The location of the hotel is its best feature. Being situated right in Old San Juan and easy walk to so many restaurants etc is wonderful.
Caribbeancruzin Posted May 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2015 The OP was asking about the Sheraton Convention center hotel close the Pan American pier where Royal docks, I believe. :) We will be staying there pre-cruise in September and are curious as to what is within walking distance to the hotel, meaning convenience stores and places to eat.:)

I have stayed here before....it is the Sheraton Convention Center.

The hotel is nice but you will need to take a cab if you are wanting to go off property to eat dinner out and shop at a convenience store. The hotel is near the Pan American Pier but I would not walk there. I will be sailing out of San Juan in November and my ship docks there too but I am not planning to stay at this hotel again.
