Royal Caribbean Club Royale Rates

I called CR a month ago to find out how much discount I would receive from my last cruise in February. $300 was the response. I took my teenage grandson on that cruise so spent very little time or money in the casino and didn't expect much in the way of a discount. A couple of days later, I called again and received an $800 discount for the same cruise, which I quickly booked. The agent told me they are still working on the new program and there's no definitive plan. He told me that some agents have the authority to adjust the discounts. As with gambling, it seems to be a question of luck. All depends who you speak to at CR.

If you are travelling with others, they also get the casino rate which is generally cheaper than the regular rate although they won't benefit, of course, from your discount.

I haven't yet called CR first to get a rate since becoming a Club Royale member (I did have TA call and get a credit for an upcoming cruise based on an email I got.)

We're looking at possibly a 2018 cruise to Australia/New Zealand and I'm thinking of the best way to get the best price/perks. Does CR give rates this far in advance? Would I be best served waiting until my upcoming cruise to do open-ended "next cruise" deposit & obc then call CR for rate & to book? And then transfer to TA for added perks?

I'm not sure that it makes any difference how far out you book but you do have to book through Club Royale. As I never use a TA, I can't answer that question but I would doubt whether you can transfer afterwards for added perks. Certainly worth asking about it, though.

if you book onboard, make sure they don't assign a TA to the reservation. usually they leave the TA of the previous reservation on and it's additional work to remove them if you're not using them again. when you get back from the cruise, call CR to see if they have a better offer. can transfer it to a TA after that if TA has additional perks.

Yes, you can. I always make my original booking through Club Royale to receive the CR discount and then transfer the booking to my TA who also provides whatever OBC/perk she is offering.

In addition to the reduce CR rate, you can also have any FCC (certificates that are being given out so generously onboard these days) applied to a booking that you have already made, even if you have already received a reduced CR rate on that booking.

A good TA, that knows how to work with CR, is invaluable. They can combine casino perks as well as TA perks and get FCC's applied to existing bookings.

So I was surprised when I got a Superior ocean view Balcony on the Allure for $1840 total and free drinks in the casino. I thought that was quite a deal!

I tried to get casino rates for my Oasis of the Seas cruise in March 2018, but the rates were only a bit less than $100 lower than the Crown & Anchor rates I was getting for our Central Park balcony cabin, and since we were using our last NextCruise certificate which offered a $100 onboard credit, it was a wash and we decided to stick with the onboard credit.

For our Anthem of the Seas cruise in October 2017, however, we got a rate that was slightly better than the Crown & Anchor rates. For a "Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony" (D1), our rate is $852/person ($2002.38 total, including taxes and fees). It shows a 42% discount off the normal rate which is a bit better than the BOGO50 or 30% off sale, whichever was going on at the time I booked it, although we would have saved $225 with the Crown & Anchor balcony discount, so the difference is a bit less.

I have done a fair amount of gambling in PR casinos, on princess cruises, and online. It there a way to get the 5% convenience fee waived with proof that I like to play the tables?

You'll have to do substantial gaming on Royal Caribbean to be considered for the waiver of fees.
