Silversea Private Sale, Nov. 22-29? Good Deal?

Got an e-mail notice yesterday for a Silversea "Private Sale" for eleven different cruises. This included for a Feb. 2017 Silver Cloud, ten-day South Africa cruise like we did earlier this year, plus ten other sailing options. These "deals" need to be booked between November 22-29 to get the big bonus of $2,500 shipboard credit.

We are considering doing Silversea #5716, Lisbon to Rouen, on Silver Spirit. This includes the private sale bonus of $2500 shipboard credit, plus free coach airfare. There is the added/option cost of $998 pp to get business class flights included.

Cruise Itinerary

Wed., June 14, 2017, depart Lisbon, 6 pm

Thur., June 15, 2017, Oporto (Leixoes), 8 am-5 pm

Fri., June 16, 2017, La Coruna, 8 am-7 pm

Sat., June 17, 2017, Bilbao 1-11 pm

Sun., June 18, 2017, St Jean De Luz, 8 am-9 pm

Mon., June 19, 2017, Le Verdon (Bordeaux), 8 am-11:59 pm

Tues., Jun 20, 2017, La Pallice (La Rochelle), 8 am-11 pm

Wed., June 21, 2017, Belle-ile, , 8 am-12:30 pm

Thur., June 22, 2017, Saint Malo, , 8 am-10:45 pm

Fri., June 23 2017, St Peter Port, Guernsey, 8 am-2 pm

Sat., June 24, 2017, Rouen, 6:30 am arrive, overnight on ship.

Sun., June 25, 2017, Rouen, am ship departure, fly out of Paris DeGaulle.

Reactions? Thoughts of the pro/con factors for the Silver Spirit versus what we have experienced in doing four sailings on the Silver Cloud? Any special loves and/or hates with any of these ports? And, with this schedule that is so port intensive for this Atlantic Coast stops?

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Hi Terry,

We booked the May 10th Barcelona-Southhamptom cruise, since it has an overnight in Bordeaux and we are looking forward to the wineries! The south of Spain is wonderful, and we look forward to Lisbon (where we've been) and to Oporto (where we haven't). We've been to la Coruña, but delighted to visit Santiago again. Just to let you know a feeling about these ports. Hope it helps.

Hi Terry, We booked the May 10th Barcelona-Southhamptom cruise, since it has an overnight in Bordeaux and we are looking forward to the wineries! Stumblefoot: Terry' date=' We like the [b']variety of restaurants[/b] on the Spirit. The only negative we've experienced is the amount of walking space between the bed and the vanity as I can barely get around my wife when she is using it.

Appreciate these two nice follow-ups and helpful info/background. Keep it coming!! Love learning much more on this ship and these varied ports. Still not 100% sure that, as the Silversea phone agent told me Wednesday that we would get BOTH the $2500 shipboard credit AND the free coach air. Hope to get better clarification by Saturday in order to finalize a booking.

Yes, it seems that Bordeaux would be one of the key trip highlights!! We might be able to do an overnight there with some creative scheduling and logistical planning. Bordeaux and Brittany are the only two main parts of France where we have not, yet, been able to explore and experience. This trip would allow us to "check off" those important travel destination super star boxes.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Did a June 7-19, 2011, cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Dozens of nice visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc. We are now at 219,108 views for this live/blog re-cap, including much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:

Terry, for us in the UK, your link opens up several deals that do give the $1500 + $1000 for your $2500 OBC.

The cruise you are looking at, for us comes out at £3645, has business class airfares included free but no onboard spend at all.

The cloud SA cruise you went on is listed with the full OBS and £399 return airfares. If only that one was in 2018!

They certainly do have some great promotions at times and obviously different incentives to different target countries.

Terry, what is #1714 coming out as for you and included?

I'm flabbergasted a Tower Bridge cruise is on the list.

For us, its £3375 and includes business air fair.... but for us thats only a single fare, so not a biggie... but that fare is keen. I'd love to "do" Tower Bridge again.

We booked #5716 in October and got the 10% discount. Would it be possible to get the shipboard credit or is that truly only given if the booking is made between November 22-29? Thank you.

I was about to reply that it didn't look like it as 5716 doesn't appear to be one of those where you are given the extra OBC for. Even clicking through the link that Terry posted, despite it being on the list, that cruise doesn't have it mentioned in its offers, BUT.......

When I scrolled down to the bottom of that page, I see it is included and specifically mentioned.

Terms and Conditions: All fares shown are cruise-only, available in US dollars, per guest, based on double-occupancy. Fares are capacity controlled and subject to change at any time without notice. Offer valid on new, individual full fare bookings made between November 22, 2016 and November 29, 2016 on eligible voyages (Promo code MK NASBC40). Guests booking Voyage 4710, 1711, 1714, 1703, 2715, 3726, 5704, 1719, 2725, 5717 or 5716 will receive a $2,500 shipboard credit per suite. The shipboard credit may be used for onboard expenses such as shore excursions, spa treatments, and specialty restaurant dining fees, premium wines and spirits, purchases in the Internet Cafe and onboard boutiques; may not be redeemed for cash, used in The Casino, or applied towards programs requiring payment prior to sailing such as pre/post or mid voyage Land Adventures, hotel packages, Concierge services, or crew gratuities/crew fund. Any unused credit will be forfeited. Offer is not applicable to group bookings. Single supplements will apply and vary by voyage. Offer not combinable with other promotional offers. Cancel/re-books do not qualify. The promotion is only available to consumers resident in United States, Canada, Mexico and South American countries. Other restrictions apply. Visit http://www.silversea.com for complete terms & conditions.

The offer also says only open to passengers from the Americas.... so I'd be excluded I guess!

When a similar offer was added to mine, I simply called them and as it was valid for me, they simply added it on my booking. (I also got a 2 category upgrade as that was another "offer" that came up after booking... so it's wise to keep looking even after booking!)

They offer you a price guarantee. I am confident if you booked the cruise direct and contact them now, if the cruise has not increased its fair, then you WILL be given the OBC.

It should apply to bookings via A TA.... but I found on a similar situation with a booking I did with a Carnival cruise, they refused. That's why I always now chose to book direct. My next cruise had 3 offers stacked on it... it's so good it's almost free! lol

Give them a call... and have Terry's link so they can see it. If you booked through an agent, I hope they play ball. Checking again, they need to apply discount code MK NASBC40 to get the offer.

Good luck. Please let us know how you get on.
