Hey gang,

We are just wondering what type of beach access is available on St. Thomas and is there access available near the tender landing or would we need to do an excursion to get to any decent beach?

Thanks,

E&C

If your ship is docked at Crown Bay, there are two options that do not require taking a taxi. The first is Emerald Beach (Lindbergh Bay). It's walking distance from the pier (if you can walk 2 miles). The other is taking the ferry to Water Island.

Here's the Cruise Critic article about St. Thomas beaches: http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1636

can you get cabs back from the beaches you take cabs to? Do some cabs check there to see if someone needs one?

Yes. You can usually arrange for a pickup time when you get dropped off. The larger beaches will have pretty continuous service.
