We went on the slpendor last September out of NYC. Love having a carnival ship only 2 hours away.

I was also on the Splendor and loved it. Wanted to book it for this Winter but Carnival pulled it out of NYC for the season. Still not happy about that. For me it is a 10 hour drive but still a lot better than flying to Florida. New York is one of the largest cities in the world and deserves a year round cruise ship. Carnival - get with it and home port one of your ships in the Big Apple.

Yes come back Carnival. I remember those winter cruises from NY were super cheap, like $300 for a 7 day cruise with no air involved.

Sounds good to me but probably not carnival although they aren't getting much more for the cruises leaving out of Florida.

The $300 is based on inside cabins.

I agree, Bill. It does not need to be so cheap. I think people would pay more if they did not have to fly. I am doing just that this Winter on NCL.

They would love to keep a ship year round in New York, they tried it with the Splendor and it just did not work. Severely discounted cabins and still not sailing full. We have sailed twice from NYC and loved it. That being said, we would never do it during the winter months (or Baltimore for that matter). Add to that the limited itineraries, and we should be happy to have a seasonal ship.

I think if CCL comes back to NYC in the winter they should try some longer sailings. NCL Breakaway does a couple of 12 night sailings, and RCI Quantum will do some longer ones too mixed in with the 8 nights, but I think that if there is an opening in the market for Carnival it is on longer itineraries (so you can really get down into the Caribbean where it's nice and warm, not just the Bahamas), that undercut RCI and NCL on price.

You are right Dave. One can only tolerate the same itinerary for so long. This winter I will be on NCL Breakaway doing the same thing as I did on Miracle and Splendor. I will NOT do it again next year. A 10 or 11 day Caribbean itinerary would be wonderful.

You don't like Nassau?

I don't care for Nassau, especially in the middle of winter when it may not be as warm as we'd like. Also doesn't help that we've been there at least 15 times on cruises and will be there again next month on the Breakaway (we're really just going for the ship).

I'm still thinking NYC to compete with the Breakaway. Fingers crossed for an NYC - Bermuda run:)

NY is a seasonal port for Carnival, the cold weather doesn't go with Carnival Party Cruises outdoor activities: pool water slides, kids water park, live music band, games, movies, etc...

Miami, New Orleans, Port Canaveral, and Galveston are Carnival main ports and will get new Vista Class...

This is just my opinion based on cs.

"Never encountered any fights, or obnoxious drunks vomiting, urinating, fighting, etc."

Neither have I, on any of Carnival's

cruises. The only obnoxious behaviour that I have ever encountered on Carnival is SMOKING and that issue can be addesssed by making them smoke outside. But they still get to smoke in the casino. Where I lIve (Ontario Canada) the casinos all banned smoking and it didn't really hurt business. They smoke outside in a heated patio area. The smokers just have to engage in one vice at a time. LOL

Would love for Vista to homeport in San Francisco and their new port! Hell I would be happy if they put the Imagination there!

I think a Fantasy class ship would be perfect for San Fran.

Have to agree with you, Jimbo. It was very nice when we sailed into San Francisco and sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco is a wonderful city. It's too bad that other cruise lines aren't as prevalent there.

They should think in San Juan :p, it is a nice port with a great and busy itinerary (6 ports/7 days) with the Valor/Liberty, but is always the same. RCCL has two ships (both 7 days) here with alternating itineraries, so the go to more ports than carnival.

They should bring another ship here

And my most important part, I don't have to add air to my Vista piggy...
