Looking to rent a car in Tauranga for the day to go to mud baths and Glow worm caves.

Cant seem to find car rental thats at port, any suggestions?

I looked on Qantas website and there seems to be all the major companies there. Unless they are all booked out?

When we were there last year we used ABC Car Rentals - they will have the car waiting just outside the wharf gates.

When we were there a few years ago there were cars that could be rented on the spot once you got of the ship.

However, Best to book a car and ask for pickup/return at the port - I am sure there would be some rental companies that will do this.

Dont want to wait to get there, want to order ahead to be safe.

You might want to search/ask about hiring a car instead of renting a car. Sometimes the NZ'ers call it that.

Its a 2 hr drive from Tauranga to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. Might be a bit ambitous to plan on doing both Waitomo and Rotorua in one day.

Can recommend Rite Price Cars.

All rental companies either have cars on the roads outside the dock or courtesy cars or vans to get you to the depot.

We planned on rentaing a car in Tauranga at 9 am and returning at 10 pm. So is both Tauranga ( mud baths) and glow worm caves not doable in a day?? Any other suggestions?

We are looking at hitting the Hobbiton Movie set and Zealong Tea Estate near Hamilton from Tauranga. We are in port 8:00-18:00, is that too ambitious? Thank you for any advice.
