DJSchib Posted December 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Is the only option to get from the port in Miami to a hotel on 17th St in Fort Lauderdale a shuttle service to the airport then a taxi from airport to the hotel ? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Turtles06 Posted December 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Well, it's certainly not "the only" option, since you could rent a car, or take a cab (the former being inefficient imho and the latter perhaps needlessly expensive). According to SAS's web site, they drop off at the Hilton Marina in Ft. Lauderdale. Have you checked with them to see whether they can do that drop off if they pick you up at POM? (We used them from POM to the FLL airport, and would recommend them.) http://www.ridesas.com/html/area_hotels.html If no shuttle will do that drop off, then your plan of a shuttle to the FLL airport and cab to the Hilton (which is nearby) is probably the least expensive, and not terribly inefficient either. DJSchib Posted December 1, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Yes I emailed them and they said they do not drop off to the hotel. Why I wondered if anyone had any suggestions We typically stay in FL pre-cruise but this time it's post cruise plus the port in Miami vs FL Sent from my iPhone using Forums
CruiserBruce Posted December 1, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2016 No, not the only option. How about Uber/Lyft? (Discussed here daily.)
DJSchib Posted December 1, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Last year just as we got off our cruise there was a Uber driver here in Michigan who went on a shooting rampage. I know rare but with happening in our home state it's remembered and makes me uncomfortable. Shuttle to airport it is I guess. JohninDC Posted December 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2016 And there's never been a crime committed by a cab driver or shuttle driver? I would make it cheap and easy and use Uber straight to the hotel for about $40-
CruiserBruce Posted December 1, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2016 And a bus driver took his bus into a overhead obstruction, killing a passenger. (I believe this was at MIA.) A plane crashed in Colombia a couple of days ago, killing 70. So no flights.... On and on.
