kiyoko Posted April 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Just got off the phone w/ NCL rep who quoted $39/day pp, or $146 pp for 7 day spa pass on the Breakaway, and that there are no longer couples spa passes at a discount. Since I get conflicting info everytime I call the 800 number, thought I would ask here if anyone knows if this info is published anywhere on NCL website. I know the $39 pp is correct - well, that's what it was on the Epic.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2013 It not really ridiculous if you think the 39pp\pd is reasonable. 39 * 7 = 273. So it's almost get the 2nd person free.

For me, $39pp is unreasonable, so it is ridiculous, taking into account that the spa passes I purchased in the recent past were $119pp for 7 days, or discounted if a couples pass was purchased for a few dollars more. Also, need to take into account that, if I recall correctly, getting a treatment did not include use of the facilities. However, the descriptions of the spa facilities make the spa seem fabulous. It used to be a no-brainer, but now have to really give it some thought.

js Posted April 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Will the Breakaway be able to purchase spa appointments prior to boarding (for instance 45 days out)? Can you also purchase spa passes prior to boarding? Thank you.
Dawn_w_twins Posted April 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Do you need a spa pass if you just want to go one day for a massage or something? Will they have a list of prices? Trying to decide if I want to schedule a massage at home the day before I leave or wait till on board. I WILL get a massage!!!!

Usually they limit it to 60 couples or so.
dalgirl Posted April 11, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Sorry to say, but I am one of those that will pay almost anything for the daily spa pass - I have muscle/pain issues:( But I hope the price keeps scaring everyone else away;)
madibeme Posted April 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 11, 2013 The difference per person for a spa balcony and a regular balcony for my cruise is $200 a person so I would see $146 as a discount but that just me. I am curious how many they sell in addition to all the cabins that get the perks.

Love my butler Posted April 11, 2013 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2013 They don't limit them. They tell you they do, but they don't. Exactly right. It's all marketing. On the subject of price, they have to pay for the ship somehow. With the boat in port for three days the casino and shops will be closed. That is a lot of profit lost. Part of the allure of the Spa on the Epic was the aft location and the view...
KJE Atlanta Posted April 11, 2013 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2013 They don't limit them. They tell you they do, but they don't. That may be the case on some sailings, but on our Thanksgiving cruise on the Epic last year, my brother-in-law tried to buy the weekly spa pass on the morning of the first sea day and was told they were sold out. They said he could still buy a day pass on the port days. Whether something is worth it (or "absurd" or "unreasonable") is a matter of personal opinion and individual perceived value. While some might not think it is worth it, we definitely do and always buy the weekly spa pass. We love the heated tile loungers, jetted pools (with the recliner bubbly area!), saunas, hot tubs, and are really looking forward to trying the salt room on the Breakaway. And it's adults-only, so during those times when the main pool deck is over-crowded or the Haven Courtyard has a high kid-quotient and we're feeling like a little quiet time or kid-free time, we can just head down to the spa to get away. Win-win! :)
KEPE Posted April 12, 2013 #17 Share Posted April 12, 2013 I'll be paying too and trying to get them as soon as I get on the ship. I considered doing the mini spa suite but the cost is $700 more than our room now so its cheaper to just get the weekly passes.

I am cruising the week after you, and the difference b/t a regular balcony and spa balcony on my ship is only like $63pp. That was the whole reason I got the spa balcony! sailingnut Posted April 13, 2013 #20 Share Posted April 13, 2013 :)I wonder how much a spa pass is for a 12-day cruise~~I am in a studio for a solo cruiser and would like one! I know I bought one before I boarded the ship on the Gem in 2011!
cdnmr Posted April 13, 2013 #21 Share Posted April 13, 2013 So the spa pass includes access to the tub/pool/loungers/salt room/sauna/steam ? Do you get a discount on any spa services (massages, facials etc)? I've read that spa cabins on some ships have non-smoking balconies. Does anyone know if that is the case with the breakaway? Do you get the same benefits booking a Spa cabin as purchasing the pass? Looking to book our first NCL cruise and think the Breakaway is the perfect ship to be our first. Just started researching the Breakaway so my apologies if this info has been posted already. Thanks

Thanks I have a spa minisuite booked for my upcoming Breakaway cruise, and if you go to the NCL website and read the descriptions for spa cabins you will get with the purchase of these cabins what is included when purchasing a spa pass. No mention of smoking restrictions on balconies, and no mention of reduced priced spa treatments.
kiyoko Posted April 13, 2013 Author #23 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Stupid husbands schedule. Could have saved myself money lol. It looks like it all depends on the date of the sailing. For example, on Aug. 18, 2013 Breakaway, it's only a $50pp difference. Don't quite understand why such a big price difference between the sailings since the availability seems about the same. Oops..sorry...it just occurred to me that I may be comparing wrong type balcony with the spa balcony regarding these price differences since there are so many different types of balcony cabins. BruinsFan08 Posted April 13, 2013 #25 Share Posted April 13, 2013 They don't limit them. They tell you they do, but they don't. When we were on the Epic in 2010 we got the spa passes on the first day. Some friends waited and couldn't get the passes on the 2nd day. I never found the spa to be crowded, so I tend to believe that they do limit the capacity.
