taking a cab vs using ground transfer

This is the first time we have ever flown to a port. I am wondering what is the best way to get to the port of Miami from the airport. I see Carnival has transfers one can purchase but they seem pricey for a family. I am thinking of taking a taxi instead for our family of four. Is there a benefit I am not aware of for using Carnival's ground transfer option?

To the Port of Miami from MIA, a cab is the fastest, cheapest option. Same for the return to the airport at the end of the cruise!

Same with using Ft. Laud. airport to Port Everglades...very close, so a cab is your best option.

Some other ports/airports aren't as close, so a shuttle could make sense. But for your port/airport, a cab is what you want! $24 flat fee!

The only benefit is to Carnival. They make lots of money on ground transfers.

Family of 4 WITH luggage

MAY require 2 cabs. May be able to wait for a (van) cab.

Four people plus luggage in a regular taxi would be a real squeeze. A taxi van would be the way to go, and definitely quicker and cheaper than the Carnival Shuttle bus. Here's the link to the shuttle and taxi information: http://www.miami-airport.com/hotel_shuttles.asp
