Several years ago we were on a cruise through the Panama Canal which had a lot of deviations due to the Swine Flu in Mexico. Captain Peter Harris was a delightful captain who added much to this cruise, which he titled, "the mystery cruise".

Is he still with Holland America? What ship? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Capt. Harris left HAL in 2011 and, last heard, was working for Windstar Cruises. formerly of HAL, now belonging to Xanterra Parks & Resorts

We were on that cruise as well.

Sailed with Captain Peter Harris a few times -- great captain. Was sorry when he moved over to Windstar.

Interested in who will be the officers on the Zuiderdam Nov. 28 sailing. Also the cruise director. Looking forward to the partial Panama Canal cruise. Been several years since we have done this cruise.

Captain Harris, Captain John Scott, and Captain Jonathan Mercer were among the first Captains to come over from to HAL from Great Britain. I believe and Mercer and Scott--a native of New Zealand--were the first non-Dutch Captains to sail with HAL. I never sailed with Captain Harris but I have heard nothing but good about him. Sorry he left HAL.
