MJC Posted September 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2015 I've been looking for information on hiring a guide to tour the park. Has anyone done this? Can anyone tell me if this is a tender port? It is hard to find any information on Golfito.
sb44 Posted September 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Go to Tours By Locals website and look at Central America Guides. They have people there. We've had wonderful guides through them. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Strenz Posted September 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2015 I agree Tours by Locals is terrific, have had great guides. I always think up my own tour and contact Tours by Locals inevitably I get an enthusiastically and prompt response. Happy Sailing Susanne
r&rd Posted September 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2015 If you go to the Windstar website under ports and itinerary you will notice that Golfito is not really the port you are going to. It states that after "a brief stop in Golfito for customs and clearance the ship will sail to Puerto Jimenez." I have not found tours by locals guides here but there are several on Tripadvisor under Puerto Jimenez.
MJC Posted September 13, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Thank you for the clarification. I've been reading up on Puerto Jimenez and there seem to be quite a few more options there. We hiked from the Pacific side of Corcovado the last time we were in CR, and I'm wondering if you think there is value from hiking it again from the Puerto Jimenez side? We like to kayak so that would be another choice we would be interested in. We tend to prefer private tours or small groups, especially where seeing wildlife is concerned.
