iancal Posted May 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2017 The challenge with leather is that quite often you do not really know how good the quality is until you have it at home for a period of time. Subleness, feel, skins, stiching is an indication, but only an indictation. We have purchased leather in Turkey. One jacket looked great but after a year it was not so great. The other, a coat for DW looked great, and twelve years later after constant use still looks great. DW bought a leather blazer in Lisbon six or seven years ago. SHe did not think that the quality was that great. After six years of wear she has changed her mind. It turned out to be a bargain and is very well cut. Bottom line.....who really knows unless you are in the business. Years ago, while in university and working retail, we did visit a leather garment factory and get the run down on how to tell good product. But that was years ago and I forget it all. I bought a belt at the market in BA near Ricolata (sp) cemetary. Seems OK. Since retiring, we only travel with carry on so we are limited as to what we can, and want, to buy. mountaindog Posted May 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2017 You can do a shopping tour because you found traditional jackets or fashion , you can find good quality or average or sales! or outlets! but all together in one hour is impossible. Argentina is expensive now a days. (ask liz2arg@yahoo.com)
floridatravelersforlife Posted May 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Search some of the old threads here. We knew of at least two store fronts with leather. My wife still uses a couple of the bags she bought. My belts have lasted also. And that was 7 years ago

That can change in a heartbeat with the Argie economy which is on a perineal roller coaster. For now, inflation is high and Argentina is not a bargain destination. You can get much better bargains in leather goods at outlet malls in the US.

As long as the outlet goods are not seconds or made for outlet, lower quality goods
