Return from Magic Fountain

We are staying near Placa Catalunya the night before out cruise and would like to see the Magic Fountain. What is the best way to get back to the hotel (other than Metro). My concern is that with so many people there a taxi might be hard to come by.

We used the metro and it was a snap (we also stayed near P Catalunya). The Espanya metro station is only a few minutes walk from the Magic Fountain.

Taxi: You will have no problem getting a taxi back to Catalunya as there is a taxi rank at Placa Espanya &, if I remember correctly, should cost in the neighborhood of €8.00 - €10.00.

Excellent. Thanks.

DW says she does not want to use Metro late at night.

The Spanish are late night people - many 'evening' events don't start until Midnight so, when you are ready to return to your hotel, the metro will be buzzing with people going out rather than being deserted.

However, if you prefer to take a cab, there are literally thousands in Barcelona so you will never struggle to find one either at one of the taxi ranks or by hailing any showing a green light.

Barcelona's subway is modern, easy to use, and seems perfectly safe at night.

P. de Catalunya and P. d'Espagna are only a few stops apart on the same line. Makes no sense not to use the metro.

We did exactly that on our second last night in B'lona, around 10 and 11 pm. One thing to watch for. We had been to the fountain during the day and saw it running, but the night we went the fountain was off. No light show. Don't know if it was because it was early May on a Wednesday night, or if the fountain had been on earlier in the evening and we missed it. You should check on line to see if there is a schedule.

According to the Magic Fountain site:

The spring-summer schedule, which starts on 1 April, has shows on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 to 10.30 pm in April, May, September and October, and Thursday to Sunday from 9.30 to 11 pm, in June, July and August.

It is about 30 minutes on foot. The Metro is perfectly fine in the evening - but it is actually much nicer to walk through Barcelona and enjoy the beautiful city.
