Sinjan Posted August 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2012 Yes you can get mojitos. I have them double the simple syrup to make it sweeter. But they do use fresh mint leaves.

spideyfam Posted August 8, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2012 The mojitos are pretty good. I will have to order one with extra simple syrup as Sinjan suggested. On one ship (can't remember which one), I ordered one, and they said they did not have any mint leaves to make it. This was on the second day. Very disappointed that cruise. karonijo Posted August 8, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2012 What is a good recipe for good mojito? I like it crisp with a hint of mint. I ordered one for the first time last year on Princess and the mint was so heavy that is was like mouth wash. It was full of stems too and looked more like seaweed. I love the Barcardi Mojitos and since the one on the Princess I have been reluctant to order another one. So..how do you make yours?
wrdupuy Posted August 8, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I only order Mojitos on Carnival. They make an excellent one, served in a stemmed glass used for frozen drinks. Plenty of fresh mint. Only once (out of many) on this past cruise could have used a bit more simple syrup-but it was still just fine. If you enjoy a great Mojito, you will not be disappointed. I love the Barcardi Mojitos and since the one on the Princess I have been reluctant to order another one. So..how do you make yours? The best mojito recipe IMO is one that has a shot of rum, 5-6 mint leaves and simple syrup with a ratio of 1 part sugar, 2 parts water. The trick is not to muddle the leaves, i.e., mash them into a gummy, pulpy mess. You just bruise them by rubbing the leaves between the palm of one hand and the thumb of the other. All you're doing is releasing the juices by breaking the cellulose walls of the mint leave, you are not trying to floss with the pulp you create. When mixing the drink, put the bruised leaves in the glass first, then ice, rum and simple syrup. Feel free to stir with a straw or spoon, but try to keep the leaves on the bottom of the glass. Most of all, enjoy!
big_duck Posted August 8, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 8, 2012 Maybe now that they are returning the Splendor from cruise purgatory and she will be back in the Caribbean they will turn the El Mojito Wine Bar back to its original form - the El Mojito Mojito bar. Blk Cherry Mojito Posted August 8, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 8, 2012 2 ounces cruzan black cherry rum 2 ounces mojito mix (like Dailys or your preferred brand) 2 mint sprigs 3 maraschino cherries splash carbonated lemon-lime beverage (7-up, lemon-lime, or Club to taste) ice Directions: 1 In a large cocktail glass (like a pounder) add mint, Cruzan Black Cherry Rum and ice. (Mint may be muddled to your preferences). 2 Add cherries and mojito mix and stir. 3 Top with a splash of soda
suzinva Posted August 8, 2012 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I love mojitos. I will never order one on Carnival again, though. Perhaps I had a bad bartender but what I got was a mint leave and syrup salad-drink. It was so full of mint leaves and they were slimy. But they hadn't muddled the mint so no mint flavor. Any rum flavor was covered up by way too much sugar syrup and if there was lime in it, it was undectable. I tried to drink it but tossed it after only a few sips. I should've taken it back but ah well. :(
cyntil8ing Posted August 8, 2012 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I think mojitos are becoming the new martinis. On the Freedom last month, they had a set-up outside the casino offering about a dozen flavors of mojitos.
lorib927 Posted August 8, 2012 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2012 We had a self proclaimed Mojito contest on the Miracle a year or so ago. I don't know if she is still there but we decided Vera in the Casino bar made the best ones. Also Mojitos are on the "classic cocktail" list. If you save your receipts and take them to the casino cashier they will give you $5 for each one in matching play in the casino at table games. Or at least they still did it in May on Paradise. Another reason our standard order is Dos Mojitos!

CathyI8205 Posted August 8, 2012 #21 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I just discovered Mojitos. I'm definitely having them on the ship. I'll have the Long Island Iced Tea too. I hear they make a good one. I'll try a Mai Tai too. In fact I'm not going to have many fruity, slushy drinks and have more straight drinks like Mojitos, Long Island Iced Tea, Mai Tais, etc.
Potstech Posted August 8, 2012 #22 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I didn't see a Pineapple Mojito on the drink menu. The comedy club had a Raspberry one though-yummy! The only thing you can do is order one and see what they say. The bartenders on the ships are very adaptable and can come up most of what people want. bjd2 Posted August 8, 2012 #25 Share Posted August 8, 2012 On the Liberty this spring, we had Dirty Mojitos from the Red Frog Rum bar. I don't remember what was in them that was different from the regular ones, but we loved them! Only ordered them from there after trying one there.
