pdx13 Posted December 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2013 We just received our Global Re-entry cards and in reading the fine print it appears that if any segment of the trip includes an international leg we are not eligible for the domestic portions of the TSA pre check. So for our trip to Barcelona we fly from PDX to SFO and I guess we will not be able to take advantage of the TSA expedited line? Can anyone confirm whether this is the correct interpretation? thanks
Zach1213 Posted December 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2013 It used to be the case that Pre-Check was not allowed on itineraries that were going international, even on the domestic leg(s) of said trip. However, this changed (I believe) earlier this year.
tnr Posted December 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2013 We returned from Switzerland in October....landed at JFK on the way to Dallas. We were able to use the pre-check. It was amazing how quickly we made it through the whole process.
6rugrats Posted December 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) We returned from Switzerland in October....landed at JFK on the way to Dallas. We were able to use the pre-check. It was amazing how quickly we made it through the whole process. Are you talking about using Global Entry to get through immigration and customs? There is no pre-check upon arrival at JFK from Switzerland. I think you are confusing two different things unless you are talking about clearing immigration and customs and then being able to use precheck to get through security for your Dallas flight. slidergirl Posted December 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2013 Remember - having GE does NOT guarantee that you will get the Pre-Check "3 beeps" every time you transit a TSA checkpoint. It only gives you entry in to the "3 beeps" lottery. GE is just one of the programs that will enter people into the TSA lottery. Some airlines now print a "TSA-Pre-Check" note on the boarding pass if you are pre-selected. If you don't see it, you can still go to the line and have the pass scanned to see if you get selected... The rules for Pre-Check did change late Spring to allow for Pre-Check qualification for all legs of a trip. From TSA's Pre-Check FAQ page: Q. Can I use TSA Pre✓™ on international travel? A. Yes. TSA Pre✓™ is available for passengers traveling domestically within the United States and for international travel when departing from a U.S. airport that participates in TSA Pre✓™. Passengers may also be eligible for TSA Pre✓™ when connecting to a domestic flight after arriving to the United States on international travel.
