RM Posted March 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2014 What would be the earliest flight you would book out of Amsterdam the day your disembark to fly to the US? Last time in Europe we sat in the airport for 5 hours before our departure. Would like to avoid that this time if possible.
CruiserBruce Posted March 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Amsterdam is covered on the Western Europe board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=233 I wouldn't book anything before noon.

Most airlines to the USA want you to checkin 3 hours before departure, a bit less if you already checked in online and only need to dropoff luggage. (although there may be lines there too.) Much depends also if you ship needs custom clearance, what day of the week or season. In summertime during weekends lines at the airline counters can be real long. Security takes place at the gates, be there in time again. Traveltime from the cruise terminal to the airport is about 30-45 minutes by cab.
