Christmas Decorations in New Orleans

Can anyone tell me when New Orleans decorates for the Christmas holiday season? Will lights/decorations be up the first week in December?

We've been to NOLA pretty much every time of the year, except December. We've heard how beautiful the city is when it's all decorated and we're hoping to experience it. I've searched the boards, and Google, but cannot find the answer.

The best lights I've found are at Celebration in the Oaks, a festival of lights out in City Park is open from after Thanksgiving until New Year's. (There is a charge for admission.)

If you have time, I would definitely recommend booking a Reveillon Dinner at one of the classic New Orleans restaurants.

We have cruised out of NOLA twice during the month of December and always a bunch of Christmas decorations everywhere from the street to the parks to all of the hotels with huge trees and lights.

This area (across from the casino) has many things going on from reindeer there to visits with Santa, activities and crafts and so on.

They also have an event called "running with the Santa's" and everyone you can think of is dressed up at Santa and doing a run in the streets. It's one big Santa party.

Mitsugirly, Thank you for the photos. I love the atmosphere in NOLA and I can only imagine how magical it must be during the holidays. I read about that Santa run...lol I think we just miss it. Too bad....looks fun!
