Casinos in St Maarten

It's been a few years since we have been to St Maarten and we are going again in a few weeks. We used to go to a casino on the Main Street that was quite large and we had a great time.

I am wondering what casinos are available to us during the day and where they are, Does anyone have better luck at one than another? Thanks so much.

There are quite a few casinos still on Front St. in Philipsburg. From the pier, you can either take a taxi (minivans) $3 pp, walk into town (15 mins.) or take a water taxi $14 pp w/unlimited use. I used to make a donation in those casinos years ago, now I enjoy the beach so much more.

The all day water taxi cost has gone up to $14 pp now? That is double of what I thought it was. Good to know.

The more I think about your posted price of the all day water taxi fare the more I can't believe that it would double in a year's time frame. Is this from personnal experience or hear say?

Here is where I found it. When I go back in September I will double check the price.

I don't think we should wait until then. I will start a new thread and ask the question and then post the answer over here.

Just to set the record straight for those considering using the water taxi. The price has been confirmed by others who have recently used the service and the unlimited daily fee remains to be $7 pp and the cost of a one-way trip is $5 pp.

Hi there.

I thought that you went just last year?

I don't think that anything has really changed since my earlier recommendations.

Since when do they sell one way water taxi tickets?

We always used to walk downtown and want to ride the water taxi back at the end of the day and they always charged us for round trip.

I believe that they've offered one-way and all-day since the beginning of the Water Taxi service.

I've posted this photo here before, from 2008, which clearly shows the one-way option.

I never remember there not being a one-way fare. My first experience was back in 2005 if that helps.

Karysa, I want to thank you for taking the time to verify the water taxi price.

Well, then, they took advantage of us more than once. If we wanted the ride back to the ship when we had walked downtown, we had to pay round trip. It always annoyed me and is the reason I clearly remember.

I have been researching the Westin Dawn Beach Resort in St, Maarten. There is a casino there, but we are looking for a nice place to spend the day, have a nice pool with beach access, and to have a delicious lunch, the Westin is only 4.5 miles from the port. The website has beautiful pictures of the resort. They offer a " Day Use" room for the day. Has anyone been to this hotel? Curious if I'm making a good choice, as we have been to Megan's Bay numerous times & are looking for something different. Thanks! [emoji295]️ sailing in 6 days.......
