Pink Sand in Barbados

Hi CC'ers. Quick question about Barbados beaches.

Where is a good beach for a sample of the beautiful deep pink sand? We have a 1 day cruise ship stop in the near future.

Background - As a lot of people do, we collect a small sample of sand from the various beaches we visit over the years. I had a nice sample of pink sand from Barbados in the collection, which I gave away to a friend who had trauma in his life and the gorgeous pink sand of Barbados meant something special to him.

Two years ago on our cruise stop in Barbados it was rainy and we only got as far as Carlisle Bay. The sand there was more "white" than "pink." I suspect sand conditions change constantly. So, that's why I'm looking for a recommendation. Any help will be appreciated!

Are you sure the pink sand you had wasn't from Bermuda? I haven't seen any non-photoshopped pictures from Barbados that show a sand color that I would call pink.

We were amazed when we went to the Crane hotel, there beach had pink sand that rivaled the sand in Bermuda. Only problem is that it is on the opposite side of the island from the dock and has a fee to use the facilities.

Over on the East Coast

the pink blends with the browner sands to render something close to Magenta?

Pale pink sands at Rockley Beach on the South Coast.

Compare sand color with the white surf.

Speaking about Bermuda.......check out the Nov 3, 2014 cruise on RCCl Legend of The Seas a 12 night from Quebec to Ft Lauderdale..........spends two days in Bermuda. We're booked and can't wait............:)

Having been to Barbados a gazillion times (including to the Crane beach), I can officially say that I had no idea the Crane had pink sand and that the fee that's associated with that beach isn't worth it in the hopes that the sand looks pink that day. Lots of powerdy white stuff on your way to and from the other side of the island...

Does anyone have a preference on which beach would be better for a beach break? Are there rentals chairs for each beach? Bathroom facilities? Food? Etc....Both beaches look awesome!

And it's not too far out: no more than 15 mins. drive away from Bridgetown and the Port. ;)
