Carnival freedom questions? Just got back from it

I didn't see any heated tile loungers. Most of the hot tubs were not very hot. I would say there were around 75-100 slot machines. About 6-8 table games. My favorite was the quarter games like they have at chucky cheese. Where you put the quarters in and they push them off and you win what fell off.

Do know about the habana bar. I never saw it when it was open. It must not have long hours.

The one thing I didn't like was it always seemed like they closed the pools and hot tubs a lot durning hours it should have been open for chlorination. Wish tell had a update on the app so you didn't go to a pool or hot tub across the ship and it be closed. It would nice if they had a time of day listed for reopening of them. Seems like it happened a lot at evening when people would want to use them. It is not a major problem just wish they would do all that durning closing hours so we could enjoy them more it got frustrating sometimes to find an open one.

As for the casino I am a non-smoker and it really only bothered me when I was near the bar area of it. A lot of people lighting up in that area. But it did not bother me in the playing area. It was not near a bad as some casinos I have been to in winstar or Shreveport. My cloths didn't stink days after in the room after being there. We played almost everyday.

One tip I have is if you are a early eater of late eater you can go anywhere in the food areas and it seems like the ship does not have a lot of people on it. We never usually had to wait in line for anything. If you can get anytime dining do that and you will never hardly wait to eat if you go outside of 6 & 8:30 (normal crowded eating times) you go do other things while everyone else is eating and you can have the ship to yourself. Also if you go the adult comedy show make sure you are lined up no less than 30 to 45 min before show starts if you want seats. Remember that a lot of people will stay for second show 9:30(first) & 10:30(second) and seats are hard to get if you go to second only. My suggestion is that if you want to be near stage 1 hour min show up (8:30) and watch both shows. They are very funny we liked ours a lot. We went to both pg and 18+ they were both funny but 18+ was funnier of coarse.

One thing that surprised me was how clean the ship was. I also loved how friendly the staff was to you. There were some passangers I saw who were there that did not allow themselves to have any fun and they were pussed at anything they could be. I think those are the ones that post negative comments on this board. I never saw any worker that was rude. They were all about customer service even when the guest didn't deserve to be talked nice too. They all repeated your name when they saw it. It was nice and personal. It maybe because the only Americans I saw working on the ship were a few performers and the comedians. The rest of the staff is foreign me they go out of their way to serve you. A few people I talked to were surprised there were not more American workers till I pointed out that it is a foreign registered ship (Panama which most are) so they don't fall under US hiring laws. It was cool to talk to people from all over the world. Make sure you get to know them and talk to them as much as you can they have cool stories to tell. Also if you get jojo as your steward he is awesome anytime he saw us in the hall he would great us by name and was so polite. He is a great guy.

If anyone has any questions about the freedom please ask. I just got back today. I will try to answer any thing y'all ask about.

Had a friend who was on that cruise and he said the first three days was a nightmare. They could not even sleep it was rocking so bad with that storm chasing the ship. What is your opinion? He said it was his wife's first cruise and she will never get on another ship. lol

The seas were not that bad. I am not a good judge of thing because I was in the perfect storm when I was in the coast guard. The seas were at most 10 foot one night. I slept like a baby. It was my wife's first time at sea and she had a headache and took a sick sick pill and she was fine. She only felt bad for a few hours the one night. I would not worry about it. Just remember if the seas are really rough to take it slow till your body gets used to it. That is the key take you time and don't make big fast movements. That's what gets everyone. I hope that helps

Thanks so much for this information. We are on the ship next week. We are trying Anytime Dining for the first time. Glad to hear that it's not a problem. I thought I had seen that the Carnival Freedom had regular light swiches in the rooms - not requiring a card to operate. But I cannot find that now. Is that correct?

The are light switches. You do not need your card for the lights. You do need a card for the safe. Use an old gift card. Not a current credit card or room key. Use something that is not active. Pick up a gift card at Walmart but don't put anything on it just get the card.

One question my kids keep asking me is how is the food and how often can they eat :). Is it worth it to get whatever drink packages for the kids as well as the adults? We travel in December.

Me and my wife did not get the drink package. They have juices and lemonade. We took a 12 pack of cokes for us to drink in the stateroom fridge. We didn't drink them all in 7 days. Did not miss cokes. We did buy it for our son and he tore it up. He would get drinks all the time. If the kids like pizza they will never run out of food. There is plenty of food for the kids. Room service is free also. They do have a pay part but a lot is free just remember that if they have the drink package the drinks are not free with room service. I don't know how old your are but I felt like me and my wife cruised alone he was out with friend he made so much. He didn't know anyone when we got on the ship and he is shy sometimes. By the end of the cruise he was the social director. He had a great time. The food was very good on the ship. There was plenty even if you are a picky eater

Great, my wife and I will both be 44 on cruise day and the kids are 7 and 11. We are expecting them to do the same :).

We are first time cruisers and I hope the boys(16 & 52) enjoy it. We live on a farm and there is always so much to do. I have convinced them to go on this trip. They are fretting it greatly due to the amount of people and lack of quietness. We don't drink or gamble ; I just want them to have a good time. Food is very important to them. :) Unlike me, they don't read so they don't know how to relax. I did book the excursion in Cozumel for the Speed boat for them. We don't go until December but, just trying to get familiar with the Freedom.

1) Does the Fish & Chip cost extra? If so what is the cost?

2) Where is the main dining room located(which level/floor)?

3) When you do have the Steward clean out the mini fridge so I can make room for our water/pop?

4) Is the Steakhouse worth it?

5) we are also celebrating their birthdays. How do I inform the steward?
