Can anyone tell me is it easy to get to Pisa from Liverno dock on your own?

By all accounts very easy. But agree with previous poster on the ports of call link.

Last year there was a free shuttle with Celebrity which brought you to the main square. From there, you have public and private options.

It's very easy. You have a few options. You can take a taxi on the pier there and back, but it will cost you, or you can get friends from your Roll Call who want to go there, to share the 8-pax taxi. Negotiate the price ahead of time.

Or

You can take the train -- but first you have to get to the train station. You have to take a taxi, as the ship's shuttles do not go there direct, and it is too far to walk. The taxis to the train station cost a set fee whether you have 1 or 8 pax. Best to share with others and split the fare (maybe 25-30 euro each way). Same way getting back.

Here's a link to the train schedule. You will be leaving from Livorno Centrale and going to Pisa Centrale. From there it's about a mile walk, or you could transfer trains at Pisa Centrale to Pisa Rossore, which will let you off only a couple of blocks from the Tower and Church.

In 2017 the TuscanyBUS company will be adding a new bus service to their schedule, making it possible to visit the cities of Pisa and Lucca in one day from Livorno. This will be in addition to the already well-established services to Pisa and Florence. All services depart from Livorno city centre and run on selected dates (see below for details).

TuscanyBUS is a division of the CitySightseeing company. Its fully-authorised services provide a fast, low-cost, hassle-free way of getting from Livorno to Pisa, Lucca and Florence, three of the most popular destinations for cruise passengers and other visitors to Tuscany.

All services depart from Via Cogorano in Livorno city centre, so passengers need to catch the shuttle bus from their ship (5 euros per person). This drops passengers right next to the TuscanyBUS stop.

Departing from Livorno city centre to the bus park in Pisa from where it is about a 10-15 minute walk to the famous Piazza dei Miracoli and its Leaning Tower.

Please note that, in order for the company to handle numbers efficiently, passengers must choose one specific round trip and cannot travel back at a different time.

Cost for round trip: €15 for adults, €10 for children (aged 3-8), disabled passengers and crew members, free for infants (up to 2 years old)

You just have to give so much time allowance on your return as one cruiser recently experienced being worried in making the ship's all aboard time while the driver is not mindful of the time.

Yes, you can DIY in Pisa, but it is a bit of a hassle. We took a great tour that included Pisa and Lucca.

GreetingsIt's easy peasy. There is a tobacco shop across from the shuttle stop. Buy your bus and train tickets there (you will need Euros as they don't take cards). Cross Piazza Grande to the bus stop right in front of the H&M store. Board the No 1 bus to the station. At the station, catch the train for the short (20 minute) ride to Pisa. The fare is less than 30 euros round trip for 2 people.

We went from Livorno to Pisa in July then from Livorno to Florence (same procedure just purchase a train ticket for Florence) in October and both trips were easy and cheap.
