frankc98376 Posted August 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2017 We are on a HAL cruise that stops in Astoria on the way to Mexico, Living in the NW I know that weather is to say the least unpredictable at the end of September especially with the currents going into and out of Astoria. Wondering if HAL will substitute another port if Astoria has to be cancelled due to weather, or slow down and add another sea day.
CruiserBruce Posted August 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Yes. No. Maybe. Nobody will be able to predict.
Rare martincath Posted August 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I can't recall seeing any reports of extra ports being added whenever anyone mentions having missed Astoria due to weather; so I'd assume a sea day and a refund of the port charges are what you can expect. But who knows - maybe you'll get lucky and HAL will decide to do the extra work of finding another port with an available berth rather than saving fuel by steaming slower...? Rare Keith1010 Posted September 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Hopefully you will make it there but if not a sea day is always nice. Keith
Lulubelle45 Posted September 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2017 I was on the NCL Pearl on my first cruise when we had to bypass Astoria due to the high seas, we ended up with an extra Sea day only. We did however find a port credit of around $10-15 FOR MISSING THE PORT Sent from my SM-T350 using Forums mobile app
