Dreamer2325 Posted February 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Hello everybody This will be my first cruise to Bermuda, on the Norwegian Dawn. I will be with my 2 kids so convenience is high on my priority list. We arrive on Sunday at 11:00 AM. I would like to visit Horseshoe Bay on that first afternoon. I read at lot on these boards about all the different ways to get there on your own. I'm not usually a big fan of ship excursions. However, I have some OBC that I could use for the Horseshoe Bay transfer. And it seems be the easiest way to get there. Does anyone have any experience with this excursion? Do they let you off at the bottom? Thank you! Edited February 18, 2015 by Dreamer2325
modelman Posted February 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Considering the cost, you would probably be better to save the OBC for drinks / restaurants, and just take a cab, which would be by far the easiest way to get to and from Horseshoe Bay. marci22 Posted February 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) A one day bus pass is $15 adult, $7.50 child 5-16 (under 5 are free). You buy the tickets when you get off the ship, at the kiosk. Or you can give them exact change on the bus ($4pp each way bus #7) When you get to the beach bus stop, you can wait for the minivan that brings you down and back up for $2pp each way. Not sure if they charge for little kids. It's easy! I wouldn't pay $100 for 3 people (33.75 each) for the ship's excursion. If anything, do like the other poster said and pay a cab to take you there and back. It's about $30 each way plus tip. You can get cash at the casino for a 5% fee if you don't have anything else to spend it on while you are onboard. You can also use it to pay daily gratuities. Bird in Jersey Posted February 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Follow the advice of others and get on the public bus!! If you like to meet people, Bermudians ride the bus and the bus drivers are friendly. Bermuda has the easiest bus system ever and Horseshoe Bay is not far(not worth the cruise excursion). If I am not mistaken, the cruise ship buses, stop at the same location as public transportation and the van ride down the hill is worth the $2 fare. You could walk down hill and get the van back up the hill at the conclusion of your beach stay(it is steep, but the view is amazing. Enjoy Bermuda!! It is an island that is in a class by itself!! It is one of my favorite places to travel!! The taxis also do fantastic tours of the island if you want something more personal. Roce48 Posted February 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2015 We will be in Bermuda the second week of May on a cruise. What is at Horseshoe Bay Beach, and do you think anything will be open?
njhorseman Posted February 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2015 We will be in Bermuda the second week of May on a cruise. What is at Horseshoe Bay Beach, and do you think anything will be open? There's a snack bar, bathrooms, showers, changing facilities, chair and umbrella rentals. Everything should be open.
