For in those of you that have been on waiting lists for this cruise. It has been released for those people that made early deposits.

This is an 82 day cruise departing September 30, 2018 from Los Angeles round trip. It includes stops

in Japan, China, Australia, Viet Nam, Singapore, and Hawaii among others. It is on the Amsterdam.

This will probably be released for general booking in near future.

How did you get this info? I just had our TA check HAL's site, and this cruise was not there.

Just got a call back from my TA, who was finally able to track down someone at HAL, verifying Benjys info. HAL said that it had sent out offer to all Mariners to pre-book at a $100 deposit, and they are clearing that wait list now. As soon as that is cleared HAL will open it to general booking, maybe tomorrow but probably next week. The TA will contact me as soon as he is notified.

Did anyone get such notification from HAL? I did not. The only brochure I got did not include this cruise. Oh, well. It is what it is.

For voyages like this if you are on a HAL cruise the Future Cruise Consultant can prepare a "Future Cruise Request". It's basically a $100 deposit you make to be one of the first ones notified when an itinerary is finalized. That's how I booked both the 2017 Grand Asia (1st segment only, from the Prinsendam in 2015), and the 2019 Prinsendam Grand South America (booked from the Zaandam in April). They record the basic information and notify you or your TA when they are ready to open bookings. I assume that's what Benjy did.

I figured that was what had happened. We were on the Oosterdam in November and did get a FCD. Wish I had mentioned it to the FCC. Now . . .for the itinerary . . .

But, 82 days? That is extraordinary for a cruise itinerary of that type, I think.

This is typical of the Grand Asia. It goes R/T from the West Coast. This cruise may (I don't know about the 2018) go to Alaska, Japan, Korea, Shangahi, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Indonesia, circumvent Australia, touch the northern tip of New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii and back home. What makes it particularly wonderful is that it overnights in the major ports. That is a lot of mileage! Take a look at the 2017 itinerary. I don't remember the exact ports.

The typical Grand Asia itinerary covers the parts of the world that I most want to see, so I would rather take this than the World Cruise. The only reason I would want to take a World Cruise is to go to South Africa, and I don't want to fly that distance. Unfortunately, we cannot take the 2018 WC, so we will book the 2018 Grand Asia and hope that the feline member of our family crosses the bridge by the time of final payment.

I placed a $200 deposit onboard the Prinsedam during our previous Grand Voyage.

The cruise consultant did not know for sure if they would run it, but it would hold our chosen cabin, and we would be notified ahead of its release to general public. I was notified by Email that it was open for early booking. Many great early booking perks on the entire voyage.

A very nice itinerary, but in my opinion and interest far too many days from Los Angeles to Dutch Harbor, the first port. That time of year, King Neptune may be very unhappy. I base this view on my Asia Pacific Cruise on the Volendam in 2002 sailing from Vancouver several days in September earlier than this cruse's date. We had very heavy seas on Day One on the west side of Vancouver Island and a few more as we sailed towards Petropavlosk. And, no New Zealand? How can a comprehensive Asia Pacific cruise not include the wonderful country of New Zealand?

Thank you, Benjy. A wonderful itinerary!

And, yes, no New Zealand is somewhat disappointing. But prior Grand Asia's have only stopped briefly in Auckland or Bay of Pines (?) (can't remember the other port) Love New Zealand but will have to make a separate trip for that. For my purposes, Japan, China, Singapore and Australia are my interests. We have sailed the South Pacific and love that area, as well. The sea days or the rough seas don't bother us. We are used to TA's and the N. Atlantic. Now, I am really excited!

We have and make f previously taken an New Zealand Cruise and loved it. These ports are exactly what we were looking for in China and SE Asia, since we have never been there before. A good portion of our bucket list. In addition there are many incentives to book early and make full payment by the end of January 2018.

I plan to book today!

I, also, if my TA can give me a good price. Otherwise, I will go my usual route for competitive bids. Also, my PCC, whom I have never used, is out of the office until the 29th. Which side of the ship do you prefer? Have you gotten prices and itinerary yet?
