Solstice - Hawaii - Night life?

Hello,

My fiance and I are looking into the Solstice for our honeymoon next year. We're both in our late 20's and we're Diamond members on RC and enjoy RC a lot; unfortunately, their only Hawaiian cruise in Sept next year leaves the day of our wedding so we cannot go that route. One of our major concerns/hesitations is the night life (or maybe lack of) on the Solstice. Can anyone provide honest insight into the night life activities that are available and how late they actually run? We've read some reviews that say the ship almost shuts down by 10PM and I don't want to regret my honeymoon.

I appreciate all responses!!!

Thank you,

Sarah

Honestly? If you're looking for packed nightclubs rocking into the wee small hours, then I don't know if you'll find it on Celebrity.

That's not to say that no one goes out and dances late at night. There may well be a few dozen people in the dance club, but chances are good that there will be as many - or more - in the martini bar.

Generally Celebrity attracts a bit more sedate crowd. That's not to say that we X cruisers are boring, we're just more likely to be lounging with our drinks than we are to be dancing.

Even RCI will have cruises that have more "early to bed" folks than "night owls"...each week is different.

If you want the nightlife, and want to boogie...head to Vegas, baby! A cruise (especially a Hawaiian cruise) will NOT have the nightlife you're looking for. A Hawaiian cruise is all about the ports...not the ship. Folks will turn in early to get ready for the next day's adventures.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the responses so far. We're not necessarily the "boogie all night" type but we do enjoy things like listening to someone play the guitar in the pub on RC ships and the piano in the Schooner bar. Do they have things like that?

The activity onboard varies from cruise to cruise, depending on the crowd. If you are looking at the Vancouver to Hawaii cruise, it will most likely be a slightly older crowd, with all the sea days.

We mainly cruise with Celebrity, are in our 30s, and have never had an issue finding activities. The atrium and Martini Bar is the hub of activity later in the evening, with DJs and various entertainment going on. It has been pretty loud and bustling until late on most of the nights for us. If you go to some of the other venues, like the top most lounge, it will generally tend to be very quiet late at night.

Celebrity is a much more sophisticated experience than Royal Caribbean, and I would highly recommend it.

Not sure which cruise you're looking at but our Hawaii Solstice cruise was not short of nighttime activity.

The disco was generally busiest around 12-2 a.m. More activity around the casino and bars in the 10-12 midnight time frame. Musicians played til about 10 each night.

Yes! There are always entertainment options & activity in the various lounges. I just assumed you wanted to dance :)

We've only ever cruised celebrity and started in our mid/late twenties five years ago. We've been in the 'club' only once but rarely make it to bed before the wee small hours of the morning none the less. Plenty of music, bars and great people to keep us amused! :)

We are regular Royal Caribbean cruisers and we did our first Celebrity cruise this year on Solstice from Sydney to Hawaii and then from Hawaii to Vancouver. Although there was much to like about our cruise, the nightlife and musical entertainment was not one of them. The disco (Quasar) was nearly empty every night. There is no piano bar (we love the Schooner Bar on Royal). There is a piano sitting there in the Ensemble Lounge but nobody ever played it. The house band was really good but they would play for maybe an hour in the centrum area and then they would move to another venue. You had to follow them around if you liked them! And the Sky Observation lounge had music from time to time but there was not much dancing going on.

I was not like Royal where you could just go to the Pub, the Viking Crown or the Schooner, relax for the night and listen to music. It was probably our biggest disappointment about Celebrity.
