Best time to cruise he Baltic for sea conditions

I am planning a cruise for my parents 50th anniversary.

I want to know when is the best time to go cruise the Baltic Sea for the sea conditions to be the calmest?

My mom gets motion sickness, but this cruise is something she has wanted to do now for 15 years or so.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. TYIA

If sea sickness is a problem, you need to be prepared every time you get on a ship. While many will say the June-July window is good, no one can predict or guarantee it will be calm.

^^^ this!!! ESPECIALLY in the baltics! Sea conditions there are especially difficult to predict.

A little too COLD in early May.

Seas were calm, but as replies from Bruce and the Guy luck plays a big part in that.

We cruised the Baltics, mid to late August and the seas were relatively calm. It was fairly chilly while cruising and you had to wear a jacket if going on deck in the evening.

June July August would be your best bet.

We went mid September and had fantastic weather. In Tallin it was a bit too hot. It is impossible to predict. I would definitely avoid August as it will be too busy.

June, July and August should be all right. I have spent 48 nights at sea on Baltic ferries during those summer months and of those just one was really bad (a storm during a late July trip back in the 1990s).

I should say that 90 % of those trips the sea has been so calm you cannot notice any rolling.

During winter trips, when the weather has been bad, Meclizine has worked well for me. Its sold under the brand names Bonine, Bonamine, Antivert, Postafen, Sea Legs, and Dramamine II.

Also, if possible, try to get a cabin in the middle of the ship and preferable not too high up.
