Tikka234 Posted March 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Hi were first time cruisers from uk cruising to Norwegien fjords , reading other threads looks like we don't need our passport to get off the ship and upon return. Do we just use a pass or do we need passports? Also it is just a passport we need to travel from uk to Norway isn't it ? Only travelled Florida before. I'm just self doubting what I know really. Thanks
Rare LHT28 Posted March 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2017 for going ashore you should take some photo I.D. but your cruise card is usually all you need If you need your passport the ship will tell you to take it with you I know we needed passports in Netherlands & France but we are Canadian it may be difference for British citizens
paul929207 Posted March 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2017 If you have a US passport, you do not need to carry it ashore in most countries. Only Russia and Ukraine have required ours be carried.
easyboy Posted March 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2017 When getting off in ports, you just need your cruise card and also a government-issued photo ID when getting back.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted March 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2017 A word of warning for anyone cruising New Zealand - a photocopy of your passport is not acceptable at some ports there, it must be the original document (passport, drivers licence). A couple were pulled off the Napier shuttle bus on our last cruise and had to go through some sort of extra identity screening before being allowed back onboard. I'm not sure what happened exactly though.
