Pride Drydock - What really happened?

Does anyone "in the know" know what really happened during the recent drydock?

We sailed her in September and wondered what might have been improved. I've heard there was a serenity area added by the aft pool, but what does this mean? Is it just now an "adults only" area or is it truly a quiet area? (I know when we were there it was always a loud party area back there.)

What else?

Does anyone have photos of improvements?

Thanks!!

I don't have any pictures but yes this means it's "adults only" you should be able to find pictures of a serenity area on any ship that has it and it will give you an idea of what the area looks like, it's very nice.

Did the Pride really get a Serenity deck added??? If so, where??

i've read a few posts (but that only) saying yes... and i was interested, too, because they haven't done that to other spirit class ships yet.

word is it's lido deck aft... (this is mentioned in similar threads i haven't searched for at the moment) which would be, on this class of ship, the ideal location in my opinion...

it's certainly not reflected on the deck plans yet.

I hope they improved the "Bad Vibrations" and the ship showing up and leaving 3-4 hours late every week. Still love my Spirit Class though.

Just came off the Pride 11/28 right after dry dock, no way did they fix or address the vibration issue. My daughter actually took a short video of the ceiling fixture in the mermaid grill vibrating like crazy!! I actually didn't mind the vibration and it helped me sleep at night

The carpet was replaced throughout most of the ship, casino was redesigned (just moved things around) but they did add flat screen tv's at the gaming tables. Serenity are was added to back pool on Lido deck. Was sort of screened in with a trellis type of structure with ADULTS ONLY signs prominently displayed.

Why would CCL make the aft pool area on Spirit Class "serenity"? It is already kid free and on all our cruises really kid free. It's a quiet friendly area now. Why???

while it was definitely one of my favorite spots, it wasn't necessarily the most 'friendly' areas... albeit often quiet. i can definitely see room for improvement, and IF done well, could be a welcome enhancement in my opinion. also, very underutilized area after-hours.

did i utilize it nevertheless, yes. would i again? yes. would i like it if it were even 'better'? yes. :)

I really hope someone has some pics. Because the way I am imagining it looking, is not very good.

So to get this strait. It is on the same deck as the pool, right? Or is it one deck up??

this is a short video of the Serenity Area on Carnival Dream it's set up varies from ship to ship but the furniture is the same on all ships and comfortable too.

this one is videoed by a cruiser and gives a little better view of the area

I was just on the Dream and the Serenity area is very nice.

I was just hoping to see how they set it up on the Pride.

Yes it would be nice to see pictures of the Pride I just looked these up because I believe 1 of the other posters has never seen a serenity area so I figured I would give them a glance :-) I can't wait I sail on The Dream in March

I was on the Pride last week for the post dry dock sailing, it was my first cruise so I'm not sure what makes it a Serentity area. The deck chairs were the same as all the other deck chairs, no cushions, there were no wicker chairs, tables or hammocks like in the YouTube video of the Dream.

But it was my favorite area of the ship, the first day at sea I was in a deck chair at 9 am with a mug of tea and a book - it was heaven. I ended up there at some point every day. I went out a couple times after the piano bar closed but the bar out there was never open that late at night.

Duey308, did you like the Piano Bar? Was it the same pianist every night? Our daughter's reception will be there after she gets married.

How about the cruise director? Did you enjoy them? We had a delightful cruise director on one sailing and a very annoying one on another ship. Just wondering....

That should be a fun wedding reception. We loved the piano bar, we had the same pianist, Roger, each night. My DD was there every night.

I found the cruise directors, Kurt & Jamie a little annoying, especially their Morning Show, but I heard other people say they loved them. I think it was the over the top cheerfulness that got to me. But I still had a great time and can't wait to cruise again.

Here are 2 pictures I took of the Pride Serenity area. Sorry that they are not better. As you can see, the area is not as luxurious as the YouTube video scenes posted earlier, but I still enjoyed hanging out there. I only recall seeing one kid there at any time I was there. He was crying up a storm, but no one said anything to the parents. The other thing I noticed one day was that the Kid's Area with the water slide is not that far away on an upper deck and at times there is noise from there. But it was better than being at the other pool areas. Note the little towel girl, Juddy, who was constantly dusting and taking care of the area. She was such a delightful person and I enjoyed talking with her. The water in the pool was a bit chilly, so I had plenty of room to paddle about. The hot tub was a very popular place. I enjoyed meeting the people there, often the same ones showed up every day. I never did find anyone from Cruise Critic on this cruise, even though I wore my Cruise Critic hat several times. The only people who noticed my hat were several who were working at the check-in on the dock in Baltimore. Hello!

So is it just that small area of the aft pool deck? How does it remain "serene" in there with all of the goings-on of the aft pool? On our sailing the aft pool was rather loud and bawdy...not a place we wanted to spend time.

Just off the Pride 11-21...Kirk and Jamie were fine ..activities poor need some life..no real band or DJ playing..Beauties Dance Club they did not finish renovating so was closed most of cruise...Vibrations still vibrating in Normandie dining everything swayed even on calm sea days

Yes new carpeting Yes the Serenity area nice but sunday and monday pool there had brown foam in it (lovely )late mon tues this was cleaned up.

Comedians did their same show 2 nites in a row even if it said R rater or uncensoered(yes they were good but not the same show twice.)

Food issues yes but it is a cruise and something hot and to your liking can be found.

Anytime dining for the birds if you arrive for anytime seating aftyer 6:30 to 7:45 you wait in line and unless your a couple end up with a pager...apager that only works near Normandie or the bar just by it.

Well does not sound positive but I enjoyed my cruise even with these minor issues

GREAT WEATHER I was with family and I was away from the N.E. cold
