Carnival Imagination U133

Just got off the imagination and opted to post a few cabin pics and a few thoughts instead if a full review. Our cabin was nice roomy enough for two. DM and I. Cabin Steward I Putu was very attentive. We did FTF and were no joke the first two on and off the ship! That made it worth it and also a great milestone and memory to share. If I could change anything it would be to have the restaurant open for each meal. I personally did not enjoy the buffet food. 2.0 did not bring the restaurants or bars. Serenity was great on embarkation. DM and I were in Ensenada from the minute we could get off until it was time to set sail. Went to Buffadora with the local tour just to shop a bit since downtown Ensenada doesn't open until 10:00. After the Buffadora trip we had plenty of time to kick back have a few beers, food and shop like nobody's business before we set sail at 5:30. This was my last three day cruise it is over before you blink. I am looking forward to crusing more in the future on longer cruises with my DM and hopefully we can get more family to join. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.ImageUploadedByForums1405973545.970964.jpg.412d3b9e39f95813ebdf99b202c2af49.jpg

I'm getting married on the Imagination on August 3, so we will be the first two on that day for sure with our guests right behind us. I have a couple questions...how big is the shower? And do they still provide a basket of samples in the bathroom? I haven't been on a cruise since 2002, so it has definitely been awhile and my fiancé has only ever been on HAL in Alaska so he has no clue. We did tour the ship a couple weeks ago as a perk they throw to weddings....but unfortunately we thought of a things after we got off the ship..such as the size of the shower.

I'll be on that ship for the 4 night cruise in a few weeks. Was wondering what kind of entertainment they had. How was the crowd? Was it mostly a drinking crowd or is it more family friendly?

Was the food in the MDR good?

Do you by any chance have a copy of the daily news paper they hand out that you could scan for us to see?

The shower in U133 was like a standard apartment shower no tub. I would say about two ft wide 3 1/2 to 4 ft length. Great water pressure and hot instantly. There is an adjustable head that can drop down to about 3 ft and raise to probably about 6. There are two knobs one to turn on the water the other to set the temperature. The high temp is 100. Yes there is a basket. It had sample sized toothpaste, lotion and breathe right strips. Congrats and cheers to your upcoming nuptials

Entertainment was lacking IMHO. They had Divas we walked by and the singing was not great. There were two acoustic singers that played separately in varying spots. There was bingo, slots tournament, poker and black Jack tournaments, lots of trivia games and a Hasbro family game.

Crowd was 40% 20-30 year olds 40% Families with children (infant to adult) 20% couples and friends over 30. Keep In mind that the four day will probably have less of the young party crowd since they might not be able to get off work all week.

The MDR food was good overall not great. Night 1 I had a steak, the duck pot stickers and MCC melting chocolate cake with a side of vanilla ice cream and whip cream. Steak was delicious, duck pot stickers duck was dry wrapper and sauce were good. You only get two. The MCC comes in a tiny ramikin 2" diameter. Ice cream scoop is like from a melon baller so 1" to 3/4" in diameter. Keep in mind you can order seconds, thirds..... size is not an issue in this case. Night 2 Dress up night. I had the lobster served with risotto, appetizers mussels and rabbit. Mussels were mealy I ate one and returned it. The rabbit was good very small. Lobster was tiny it would take four to five to equivocate to one standard lobster tail. The risotto was watery and sticky. Night 3 I had beef medallions. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was good you get five medium sized shrimp. Beef medallion was very tough asked for medium rare and got well done. Service is slow plan on an hour and a half to two depending on what time you go. We didn't mind because we chatted and were not in a hurry to get to a show or anywhere else.

The DD and I missed the entertainment due to busy doing other things during the show times. We passed by the guitar singer a few times and for me passing by was enough.

The ship was not crowded with the exception of course of the pool area. Serenity was wonderful until the sea day as it became a "drinking in the jacuzzi hangout" We managed to find seats that my daughter read about on CC and we read awhile but it was an overcast day and we opted to spend more time indoors after sitting out for a short span of time.

There were quite a few of families with family celebrations going on. The kids seemed to be enjoying the cruise and the pool. I noticed quite of few children in the pool side jacuzzi.

Yes, there were the 3-day drinkers on board. One person stayed in the same outfit all 3 days.. Since we did not go to the areas where the party groups went I can't give a true estimate. We did not run across any rude or behaving badly folk until our last night while trying to sleep and the cabin across from us decided to use the hall for a party. Note: no extension number for security in the cabin room.

Was the food in the MDR good?

IMHO I did not care for the food. Best food - the salad I made myself in the buffet area.

Sorry I do not have copies.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm bringing my girl scout troop with me. They earned the money to go by selling cookies :)

So this trip is really for them. I'm sure they will have fun no matter what.

Did people get dressed up like on the longer cruises or was more casual like maybe work clothes.

I'm just looking forward to having a nice relaxing time.

Are the beds comfy? LOL

We're on the 8/31 4-day cruise. We've done the Mexican Rivera many times on different Carnival ships. If you want great drinks, there's a guy with a stand down in the shopping area near the ship. He's reasonably priced and doesn't cinch on the booze. The bloody Mary's are soooo good, we're looking forward to them. As you leave the port area and walk to town, when you come to the stop sign at the end, there's a big building across the street. It use to be a casino where all the movie stars of the past hung out. You can walk through it and see the sights inside. Out in the patio area are vendors selling their wares. There's an English fellow and his wife who sell the coolest handmade magnets, his name is Mr. Robinson. We stop by and purchase magnets for family as gifts. They are quite colorful. That will probably be our one and only stop and go back to the ship. We're doing another Mexican Riveria cruise in October but on Princess - 10 dayer out of San Francisco.

Awesome congrats!

They will have a wonderful time. I noticed the kids on the ship participating in a scavenger hunt with the kids club. They also did a night owl event on the last night I saw kids with orange draw string backpacks at disembarkation.

Did people get dressed up like on the longer cruises or was more casual like maybe work clothes.

Some were dressed to the nines others just slacks and a nice top (men and women) dress and sandals. Kids wore jeans and shirts or little dresses some were dressed to the nines as well. Dress up night might be a great chance for you and your troop to dawn your uniforms and get a great picture they have probably five different back drops to choose from prior to dinner.

I'm just looking forward to having a nice relaxing time.

The bed was ok nothing to write home about I had no problem snoring :p Edited by THIS IS US!

How exciting for your troop. I was a Girl Scout through Cadet and my DD just recently for fun looked up the old Girl Scout camp I stayed at way back int he day. We noticed when we sat playing cards a group of young people playing a scavenger hunt game so I am sure your troop will have fun!

Clothing varied each night with some passengers opting to dress up for pictures on the "dress up night" We wore jeans or capri pants with casual tops to dinner. We went with anytime dining and most of the diners dressed similar to us.

We had a great time both relaxing and for me a little worn out from Mexico because we went everywhere shopping going back to the ship to drop off heavy pots and then back out for more shopping etc.

Just went on this cruise for a 3 night cruise 6/19/14. As far as the entertainment question I thought the band The Regulators that played in the Casino Bar all 3 nights was the best band I have ever heard on all of our 11 of our cruises. But get there early as it can get packed later on in the small area they gave them to play in.

Have a great trip...i loved girl scouts way back and made it to First Class or whatever it was and then my family moved to a ranch and could not do it last three years. My mom was our brownie leader..for all years we were in a town..I think only my youngest sister missed that experience,,,oldest of 4 here.

I am so excited that you and your girls can go...just amazing..have fun..and thanks for helping so many grow up..with good memories and experiences...Sarah
