Fubbertly Posted April 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Any chance you could post the five day dinner menu? We're (fiance and I) are going on the same cruise in July, so can't wait for your review!
cruisinthree Posted April 11, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Fubbertly, sorry I don't have the five day menus but I can tell you that the menu was good and varied. Stay away from the poultry dishes, though...the chicken and the quail were both undercooked. Everything else was tasty and hot when it arrived at our table. Carnival's grandmariner souffle (sp) the last night is to die for! Be sure to ask for seconds!! When I post my review, I'll try to list more of the dinner menu that I can recall from memory!! Knights on the Beach Posted April 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Yeah, how do people get those menus, anyway? I've never seen any "take home" menus on the ships! islandgram Posted April 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2004 We did this cruise in March and we are not back to normal yet, nor do I ever expect to be!! Ditto on the food, folks at our table had undercooked poultry as well .... hubby had the prime rib, steaks, etc and it was very good ... I usually had the shrimp and seafood kinds of dishes with names I can't remember nor pronounce but everything is just to die for!! Everyone at our table loved the lobster tails, but we were a little disappointed in them. Of course, considering hubby is a Maine lobsterfisherman and we have them fresh from the boat, we are spoiled!!! The only complaint I have is that the cruise is not long enough. This was our 1st cruise and will definately to at least 7 nights next year.. any suggestions??? Imagination 3/15-3/
twofromcolumbus Posted April 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2004 cruisinthree - Glad you had a wonderful time. Looking forward to your report on the Imagination. islandgram - Now you know how easy it is to get hooked on cruising. I never wanted to cruise and my wife finally talked me into it in 2000. Well 4 years later and we are planning our 6th cruise. We have taken from 4 to 11 day cruises and have enjoyed them all. 7 days does seem like the right amount of time, but hey any day on a ship is better then being home. cruisinthree Posted April 15, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted April 15, 2004 tmswayne, I'm glad I could provide this review for Imagination cruisers! I was like you, a bit nervous about this ship because I never see anything about her! She really is a great ship and I think you'll have a great cruise! From Cincy to Miami was about a 19 hour drive, so it was very long. We took a different route this time than previous times we've driven to Miami and it was nice to avoid Georgia altogether! We also did it in two days, staying our last night (Friday) in West Palm Beach, just an hour drive from Miami. That worked out wonderfully. Where in WV are you?? My family roots are in WV....Weston (Lewis County), and Independence/Terra Alta/Kingwood (Preston County)...I'm a big genealogy nut (my second love after cruising!) If you have anything specific you want to know about the Imagination, let me know! Forchunut1 Posted April 15, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 15, 2004 It's great to see some reviews and comments about the Imagination. I'm booked on it for November in a category 12 - my first time! Does anyone have any tips or important things to know about a suite on the Imagination? jemingway Posted April 15, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 15, 2004 The Imagination is greatly underrated. The crew members are incredibly enthusiastic and try very hard to please. It was the happiest group of passengers I have ever seen, too, so it was extremely pleasant. Everyone was so polite that it was shocking to get back to South Florida. cruisinthree Posted April 18, 2004 Author #16 Share Posted April 18, 2004 tmswayne, we traveled with our 17-year old son so we didn't see inside Camp Carnival. However....we did see lots of Camp Carnival activities going on. One day at sea, they had the kids at the waterslide and all the counselors were very attentive to what the kids were doing on the slide. In fact, I never saw the counselors take their eyes off the kids the whole time they were on the slide. Another evening, they had evidentally given the kids a tour or had some activity behind the curtain of the Dynasty Lounge. When they left, just before showtime, all the kids were well behaved and the counselors were once again very attentive to the kids. I remember several years ago cruising with Carnival and our son had a blast in Camp Carnival. I wouldn't worry at all about letting your kid(s) take part in the camp as often as they want, Carnival does a great job with kids!
