Just Back from Navigator July 10-17

Recommended Posts

We just returned today from a GREAT Western Caribbean cruise on the Navigator! It was a sold-out cruise with over 800 kids on board. The kids we saw were all well-behaved - never a problem. A quick review:

Pre-Cruise: Spent the night before at the Radisson in downtown Miami - very nice hotel, great room, not-so-great neighborhood, but OK during the day. Took a taxi to South Beach for dinner - walked up and down Ocean Drive - fun place!

Embarkation - got to pier at 10:45 - on the ship by noon - very smooth.

Rooms - had a balcony on deck 8, mid-ship, port side - super - balcony was worth every penny!! Our kids (18 and 21) were across the hall from us in a Promenade room which they enjoyed. Our cabin attendant was very good - kept our cooler filled with ice every day, made towel animals each night, fresh towels twice a day - she was great.

Food - dinners in dining room ranged from fair to good. Ate at Chops and Portofino - both were excellent. The desserts in both specialty restaurants far surpassed any dining room desserts. Service in dining room and specialty restaurants was great. Windjammer breakfasts were good - made-to-order omelets and everything a person might want was available.

Pool - enjoyed the Solarium very much - never a problem finding a chair - pool police kept kids out of the area. The other pools had lively entertainment and action all week.

Entertainment - Ice show was great! Also went to a musical review show that was good. Otherwise mostly listened to live music in the bars- all great especially the singer/guitar player in the Two Poets.

Tours - took Peat Taylor's tour in Jamaica to Falls and around the city. Very nicely done. Took Captain Bryan in Grand Cayman - the Bucaneer catamaran with 2 snorkel stops and a stop at Stingray City - very fun and professional!!

All in all, a great week. Feel free to ask questions.

Do you know if there was a wine and dine package on NOS, and, if so, what was the cost? Also, I can't remember if there is food offered in the Solarium. There is on Rhapsody and Brilliance. How about NOS?

There was not a wine and dine package - at least I didn't hear about one and I would have been on the lookout:) There was no food at the Solarium, just a bar. The Windjammer is so close that many people brought food from there out to the Solarium pool without a problem.
