Rare YoungDubFan Posted June 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2016 I am on the Avalon Creativity & the stein has high water. We are unable to dock at Les Andelys this afternoon so we are sailing straight through to Caudebec. We will try to stop at Les Andelys on Saturday on our return to Paris. We are having some light rain showers today & rain in the forecast for the rest of the week. Luckily we are still sailing.

capriccio Posted June 1, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) We were on Uniworld's River Baroness last week on the Seine and transferred (along with our cruise director) to the S.S. Catherine on the Rhone on Sunday. Tonight he announced that we were lucky to cruise last week since it looked like some ships wouldn't get back to Paris this weekend. The Rhone is high but the only inconvenience we encountered was the high water and low bridges that convinced the captain (who didn't want to get stuck) to depart Macon for Lyon early and the passengers added an hour to their bus ride after the Baunne excursion to meet the ship. Rare YoungDubFan Posted June 1, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 1, 2016 When we sailed through Rouen this evening on the way to Caudebec, there were about 10 ships docked in Rouen. Some were waiting on tides to be able to move on. We sailed past them all & arrived in Caudebec at 10 pm local time.
pully8 Posted June 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2016 enjoy the rest of your cruise. we did this last spring and had high water. our ship stopped on return at Vernon. we were bussed to Paris spent the last 2 nights in the hotel. the next cruise was to start in Zurich to Vienna. we flew to Zurich stayed in a lovely old hotel by the river, beautiful church bells in the morning. trained to the meeting place to be told we will be bussed from Zurich to near Strasburg, because of high water. the last 4 river cruises have had disruptions, some water related some because of strikes. it seems the new normal, as long as the operators look after you despite the frustrations.
