  1. I don't remember MSC to have flutes given up from pre purchased drinks packages. Yes, they have had them for the romantic, or birthday packages, but I have never seen them, and those packages are usually quite on the expensive side of the pound. Back in the day they used to sell some souvenir cups with certain drinks or empty at the logo shop. There used to be a kids version as well given with some non alcoholic cocktails, but again, apart the kids one with DoReMi (their kids club mascot), of which I own one, I have never seen them, and they didn't sell them on my last cruise back in 2018, so unless anything has changed, I believe that to have been discontinued or severely restricted. Have a nice day!
  2. Just to clarify the Tallinn port shuttle issue: Back in the day when I did it in 2014 or 2015, Tallinn cruise terminal was a very industrial cargo dock with some cruise assistance. Then, once we had the last possible dock so far away to the port gate, they run a free shuttle from the ship to the port gate done on a very old, ugly, soviet era urban commuter bus, obviously in very bad conditions, so basically like falling apart as far it went!... At the port gate we opted for the Gray Line HOHO that was rightly outside the gate. So: Do they have now a proper cruise terminal? Are they servicing it with a pay for good shuttle done on 21st century tourism busses? Do they still have the HOHO's available there? Have a nice day!...
  3. Hi! First of it all: Be welcome to the MSC boards. With those shoes and what you describe as your dressing for the day and the evening you'll even to be OK on formal night in the MDR these post covid days, I believe. For some years from now, things have changed a little bit, and even though, some MSC cruisers tend to be somewhat formal, especially on formal/elegant nights, truth is that things are now far more relaxed than what they were some 10 years ago. I stopped to use a tie back 2015 for example... Oh; and only one formal/elegant night per week since 2017 or so. In summary: Don't worry so much on formality versus anything else. Have a nice day!...
  4. Nice review!... Have a nice sailing!... Wonderful to see some signs of normalcy coming again to the cruise industry. Hope that to stay and never goes out again!... Surely; I'm a non drinker for health reasons, so once on a cruise I need to rely on the alcohol free cocktails they usually have... But, from the photos and from what I see on the ships, it seems clear that MSC cocktails do have such an exclusive "heart" of their own!... Those 2 ones on your photo just have that "heart" at its highest!... Even the non alcoholic ones do have it!... Hope to have them again one day, sooner rather than later, possibly 2023!... Have a nice day!...
  5. Pretty much everything has been said. Permit me just to add that while respectful clothing is recommended elsewhere for Churches, the more conservative attire requested is mostly such an Italian sort of thing. If you're going to visit the Vatican, dress accordingly. Full pants and full sleeves shirts is what I recommend.
  6. I don't know for Syracuse and Taranto. Bear in mind that if one of those happens to be a tender port, you'll need some extra time. In Genoa the MSC managed cruise terminal is equipped with an air bridge from ship to terminal, so you'll may be ready to go in minutes. Marseille at the time I was there was a cargo dock with some cruise assistance, so they'll open some 2 or 3 stars, so the process is relatively slower than Genoa. Here I recommend the cruise line's shuttle because otherwise you'll might to be placed on a very remote dock and so you'll most likely to spend a lot of your limited valuable time on commuting logistics rather than exploring the nice city. Have a nice day!...
  7. Both is definitely too much for a cruise day, sadly. Decision will mostly depend on what you really want and the amount of time ship will be in port. For Pompeii you'll need such a single half a day tour and have the extra time for delays or at best rest at or near ship. For the Amalfi cost coast it can be more time. Sometimes cruise lines will open more shore ex once the sailing approaches or save seats to sell at boarding day, so stay tuned, but there are several companies doing a reliable work. On the ports of call section someone can give you more details, in addition to the ones that have given them beforehand. Have a nice day!...
  8. Pretty much all said from the last posts. Permit me just to add: If Pompeii ruins is your sort of thing, go for it. As someone said I'd go with a ship sponsored shore ex because while the distance is not that big, traffic might to be a nightmare. You can go by train on your own, but they're generally old fashioned commuter trains with a bad fame of lots of pickpockets, so beware. Surely I went to Mykonos some 10 years ago, and things might to have changed, but bear in mind that it used to be a tender port of call. If done at night it might to be an opportunity to experience their night life. Once weather didn't cooperate I opted to stay at ship that evening, so no comment on what it really can be. If done at daytime, it would be as described above such a prime beach day. General advise: Bear in mind that most European tourism attractions are mostly historical places. Dress accordingly if some of those ones you happen to visit are Churches, especially in Italy where they're quite conservative on that one. Have a nice day!...
