  1. The Disney reference cracks me up, because there were conversations like this on the Disney board I was on, because of the parents that would insist on bringing their child with them into the adult only area.
  2. So, what is the issue, choices below? This may be different answers for everyone. 1. Kids should not be allowed in the solarium pool area at all? 2. The times Celebrity chose are not good times, perhaps shift later? 3. Parents bringing there kids into the solarium at any time of the day and the staff allowing it?
  3. So we generally eat an early dinner and when we have gone into the solarium after dinner, it is essentially a ghost town, and later at night it truly is and we have the pool to ourselves. Kids being in the pools outside of the specified hours is definitely and issue, no doubt, but I think Celebrity chose hours that would impact guests the least. How many people on here truly are in that pool between 4 and 7 pm? Maybe they should just do 6 to 9, which would bother even less people based on our experiences. Maybe 4 is too early? This is really more about not having kids at all on Celebrity. Yes on Disney we have seen lots of entitled parents, but if I am being honest we have seen more entitlement on X than any other line. It is still a small percentage, but it is there. Most folks though are super friendly:)
  4. We are 50 and 47, and have 4 Celebrity cruises now and will be eligible to get our free drinks every night soon enough, but the above has us looking at other options. Also seeing that other lines do Gluten Free potentially as well as Celebrity, including Carnival which shocked me, we are back to being free agents. That said the elite happy hour would be a great perk for us since we like the occasional drink, but never enough to justify a drink package. We did sail HAL last year, and it was only ok for us. Ship was awsome, Gluten Free (MDR Great - rest less than ideal), and the main theatre entertainment was awful, only shows we have walked out of. We would sail again depending on the itinerary or a great last minute deal, just not a first choice.
  5. We have sailed Disney and Royal along with Celebrity and Hal and have never seen that before. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I guess someone in the pool wants a desert, they just head into the buffet, not thinking of how they are dressed. Kind of an issue with how the buffets are always right off the pool deck, it is surprising it doesn't happen all of the time, especially on the family friendly lines. We were somewhat guilty of this on our last trip on the Edge. We were on at the height of the food cutbacks and after a swim in the solarium pool, my wife decided to check out how bad the buffet was. I did second guess the decision, but like a good husband went with. We walked around the few offerings they had (being gluten free it wasn't and option for me, and she did grab a desert on the way out, did not eat it in the buffet area. I did have swim trunks and a tshirt on and she had a swimsuit and coverup on. The intent was scoping out the buffet to report back on our trip report, but we probably broke some rules just walking in there.
  6. Used to get my Polos at Kohls for less the 5$ on sale, name brands, and now that we shop Costco, many of my evening chic work outfits run under 20$ total for pants, shoes, shirt, and maybe even throw in the socks at that price. I get going to places like goodwill, but you can get great deals on new clothes at stores as long as you don't mind shopping the clearance aisle. That said during the colder months, I will wear a company gift hoodie to stay warm as our offices are in a pole building, so always drafty. So if they gift them to us, they are ok with hoodies at work:)
  7. They should be dealt with of course. I was speaking only of part of the situation where some would be more comfortable on Cunard, unless they have relaxed their dress code. Have seen comments like the slobs have one lol.
  8. What kills me is the group that calls out people that meet the current policy for not being dressy enough in their eyes. They should be complaining to Celebrity and not calling out people that are following the rules. Makes no sense to me lol
  9. We are looking at cruises likely on either the Sunshine or the Mardi Gras for sure, but we may end up on another ship, who knows as we are still planning. We have seen some examples of the new gluten free menus online and they actually looked pretty good. Has anyone eaten off these menus, and do you feel like you have ever been glutened on Carnival? We have been enjoying Celebrity and how they handle the buffet with items labeled gluten free. We saw some buffet reviews on the Mardi Gras and they also had the buffet dishes labeled as gluten free. Is this a fleetwide thing or just on ships like the Mardi Gras? Really hoping that they do gluten free well. Finally decided to give Carnival a try.
  10. Wondering if all, or which M class ships have the T-Pool?
  11. Looking to see how MSC handles gluten free in the MDR and buffet. If it matters we are looking at the seashore and would be sailing in an inside room. Would also take any general comments on the line as well. We have sailed Disney, HAL, Royal, and Celebrity. Thanks in advance.
  12. For me, see my post above this one, if you are friendly and good company during dinner, I really could not care how you dress. The best dinner conversations and atmosphere we have ever had on a cruise was on our Galapagos trip on the Expedition that we just returned from. The dress code every night was casual, shorts were acceptable, and the conversations and overall feel of the dining room was the most positive I have ever seen. Granted it is a trip of the lifetime for many, but it was very refreshing to experience.
  13. This^ Our worst experience with table mates was a mother and son on a different cruise line, that would have met the chic night standards every night and probably more strict lines like Cunard as well on many nights as well. But what made them memorable was how rude they were to the staff, always complaining about everything. To be fair we did have an underperforming pair of servers, but the head server was working hard to cover it. There are very nice ways to deal with issues like that, but they chose a different route. This was on a 16 night cruise too, but we didn't let it ruin our trip, but did joke about it on a night or two when they chose to eat in specialty dining to lighten the mood.
  14. Ha ha, on my 3 Celebrity cruisers I fit right in with a majority of the men on the ships, so I am not worried. Ultimately I was in the dressier 50-60% of the diners in the main dining room. The above was posted as a joke, because that is not how a slob dresses. But, if you truly feel that way, Celebrity would not have many on their ships, and reading their definition for evening chic I am fine. I believe that there are a couple of lines that have stricter dress codes that you can sail that will meet your preferences.
  15. These threads are always interesting. Jim took my response for what it was:) In my 20 cruises now I have never been bothered by the dining room staff about my attire. The reason I don't take a jacket anymore, is the first thing I did on our first cruise, along with many others, when we sat down to eat was to take it off. To me that is wasted luggage space and weight. Interestingly some of the best service on a ship I have ever had was on the Xpedition last week and many of us were in shorts and a decent T shirt, because of the type of cruise it is. Luggage is also limited to 44 lbs per bag for this cruise.
  16. Well I guess I am a slob with either darker dress pants or Khakis and either a polo shirt or a button down short sleeve shirt without a jacket. Thanks for judging and perhaps I shouldn't cruise anymore, but not a chance that is happening.
  17. Yup Celebrity is our go to. Celebrity blows away Disney, Royal, and HAL with how they handle food allergies, especially the buffet, which was a game changer for me. Since we sail insides by choice, lines like Viking or the Yacht club on MSC are not for us.
  18. So I guess I didn’t fully answer the OPs post. We don’t bring wine or any drinks onboard. Two cruises the only booking option was with the classic package, that was sufficient for us. Our other numerous cruises the max drinks we would buy is 5 each, even when we did a 16 night cruise. We get water from the buffet during the day and juices. I bought the soda package on Royal, but wouldn’t do that anymore. We also no longer due specialty dining, used to do the specialty buffet on Disney. In all our cruises all but one supper has been in the mdr. We are super cheap people. There is no reason I could see we would cheat the system and we likely will never reach the free drink status sailing inside rooms on Celebrity. Even booked an oceanview, lowest class on our Galapagos trip lol. I know the way we cruise is not for many, but it works for us. I just need time away from a stressful job.
  19. For the 2 cruises we have booked, including the one in 2025, we have yet to see price increases. The price is still in a range that we are comfortable with. That said we mainly sail insides because the room itself is not important to us and a balcony or suite level room we found for us was wasted money because we didn't use it.
  20. I got lectured about this from someone who married someone from Ukraine. I said that a lot of the worlds grain comes from the Ukraine. Just as I would say a lot of corn is grown in the United States. I believe that the use of the before both is correct, but could be wrong. If it is correct, I could see how someone with ties to the Ukraine could take issue with it.
  21. Interestingly I have heard both men and women use the 'the', especially when referencing a kid. I think the degrading part would be the intent, which all I have heard use it never have had intent. When my wife refers to me as that !**!@** of a husband, that is just life as usual and I hope I am just kidding:)
  22. Or that you really are attached to or really like something. Our first cruise back after Covid was on the Constellation, and we fell in love with the ship, 5-600 people on the ship helped, but after we bonded with the ship she was Connie to me.
  23. Yeh, but we have sailed on the Disney ship, and will likely never set foot on a Carnival ship based on experiences that close friends had.
  24. I had a boss at work that knew all the rules and regularly work with tech writers. I stumbled through English in school, and that is the best I can say. My gotchas at work are setup vs set up and effect vs affect. It essentially became a running joke over the years that I would screw it up. The funniest is I had a friend who was better with written English than me, and because of the work we do we would borrow portions of test reports from similar work, and when I essentially turned in her work to our boss it would get a lot of corrections, because of my reputation, but the funny part is that she had already reviewed it when my friend turned it in lol.
  25. I am so confused by this. I will use the Disney Magic to make the sentence more fun. So am I suppose to say which of the 3? 1. I sailed on Magic last week 2. I sailed on the Magic last week 3. I sailed on the Disney Magic last week 1 sounds ridiculous and 2 and 3 work to me. By the way the english language sucks and should be banned lol. Even growing up with it nobody knows all of the stupid little rules. For the record I like the nicknames, and they are used on cars too. For example Tacomas are generally referred to as tacos.
