Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Air Canada from Orlando to Montreal to Rome. American from Lisbon to Philadelphia to Orlando. American Airlines was comfortable compared to Air Canada.
  2. We did a 2-day deviation pre-cruise. They removed the transfer fee (airport to hotel) and gave us $25.00. We paid for the transportation from the airport to hotel and hotel to cruise ship. We had transportation to the airport after the cruise, however that was a nightmare. The ship arrived in port at 6am but was not cleared until 7:20. At this point, everyone is in line to get off. We had an 11:05 flight (from the BOGO), but they were loading one bus at a time. There were at least 500+ people in line for transfers. The people in front of us did not have a flight until 12:30. We did not arrive at the airport until 10:20, still needed to drop off our luggage and of course the gate was a 40-minute walk (no exaggeration) The only reason we made our flight was because it waited for us, they knew that we had checked our luggage. I would not do a BOGO again with international flights.
  3. On our recent cruise from Rome to Lisbon (most ports in Spain), there was no VAT.
  4. There have been mahjong sets in the libraries of the 5 NCL ships that I have been on.
  5. You will still have to go through the long line to get through security. Once through there is the priority line and the next long line for everyone else to reach the desk. They will allow everyone to go through priority together.
  6. Could someone post some additional information, such as the airline you flew, airport you left from, where you were going and the layovers and times? I know they book Basic Economy, but my biggest fear is being unable to choose a seat and being stuck in the middle for a twelve hour flight.
  7. I think it depends on the cruise you are on. Check the hours for the times you are in port. We took a short 7 day cruise last year and the ship got in at 6 am and left at 3. It didn't leave much time for excursions.
  8. We've stayed in all three. The Club Balcony and Family Club Balcony have a little more space (about 8 inches), between the bed and the closet. Both have bigger bathrooms. The Club Balcony has a huge walk-in shower, and the Family Club Balcony has a bathtub/shower combination. I do not like having to step over the side of a tub to get in the shower. If you book a Balcony Cabin and put in an upgrade for the Club Balcony you might get the Family Club Balcony.
  9. We are leaving tomorrow on our 4th cruise this year. I bid on 2 of them and got the upgrade. Both upgrades were from a balcony to a club balcony suite. The first time it was a regular club balcony with a walk-in shower, the last cruise they upgraded us to a family club balcony. That one has a bathtub and you have to climb over the sides. As seniors, we do not want to trip getting into a shower so I will not be bidding in the future.
  10. Take an empty water bottle that fits and fill it with their water. They have never taken it away from me.
  11. Are taxes on drinks charged in ALL ports or only while in the US?
  12. Thaks Caitlyn2, going to a Health Department might be doable!
  13. I read somewhere that you can test positive for up to 3 months. We are flying from Florida to Oregon to get on the ship, so it's not an option to just go there and hope that she tests negative. I told her to speak with the pharmacist in Walgreen's where she got the original positive diagnosis, he's a doctor and maybe they have a form. Just looking for anyone on CC that might have gone through this.
  14. We are scheduled to travel on the Bliss on July 9th. One of the people in our group currently has Covid. Under Norwegians FAQ's it states that she does not need to do the pre-test but must bring the positive PCR test (more than 10 less than 90 days) and an acceptable form of COVID-19 recovery, i.e. doctor's note. Her doctor's office states that it doesn't write letters. She is worried that she will still test positive seventeen days from now even though she has recovered. Any experience in boarding following a case of Covid?
