  2. Keep in mind.... Juneau offers the majestic humpback whale watching, BC offers the smaller and faster orca whale watches, and not to be confused with ones found on Deck 16.
  3. A variation of martincath's response.... Vancouver's premium Chinese restaurants offers live crab. if it's not moving across your table, something is wrong. yes, you need a group of 6 or so pay attention as some are harvested in Russia vs Alaska. Inquire when you pre-order. Prices will vary week to week. please don't ask for boil 'n butter. Chinese restaurants are famous for their "Vancouver Style" multi-presentations.

  7. I was on Gastineau for their photo tour and no complaints. Their boats are a bit bigger and have large windows for photo's. I do recommend something with a good zoom to catch whales in the distance. https://www.stepintoalaska.com/about-us/our-fleet/
  8. No train service until December 2022. https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/amtrak-announces-no-train-service-canada-late-2022/281-a7e86491-7fef-41d0-b978-cce3949a359a
  9. The Koningsdam and the Royal Princess are debarking on Sept 3. These high capacity ships will feel like a three shipper day, especially if they return to full capacity. Keep in mind, Sept 3 is the start of a long weekend. That will be a popular day to travel, especially for international students. Might want to have a Plan B and Plan C ready. The Covid test being lifted does not impact a workforce shortage. As more restrictions are lifted, expect revenge travel to surge upward. Hopefully in the next 3 months, the airport is able to hire more staff.
  10. Usually you are issued colour coded luggage tags the day before. They are timed when you debark your ship and when your luggage is ready for pickup. Hopefully you are not travelling with black luggage, if so add some color coded tape for better identification. I had green tape added to mine and so did two other cruisers. I had to triple check this was my luggage.
  11. I'll add that concerned riders can also discretely text 87-77-77. You will be in contact with Translink police and advise them of the situation. https://transitpolice.ca/advice-info/see-something-say-something/text-87-77-77/
  12. Things change day to day. On the Koningsdam last week, there was no testing for me debarking in Vancouver. However passengers debarking in Seattle were being testing in the morning in the upper main dining room. I didn't ask for specifics on whether they were going on a flight or was it some rando test.
  13. Yes there is a luggage drag to behind the counters. It's level, but uphill onto the luggage belt. Usually there's staff to assist.
  14. Does that include a broken window? I would not leave a vehicle downtown for two weeks unless it's secured at the impound lot. As Glaciers suggested, the airport long term lot is the best choice.
  15. The key thing is the Canada Line frequency drops to once every 20 minutes in the late evening. I wouldn't be surprised if the cab can have you at your Robson hotel doorway in that time. Another vote to cab it.
  16. NCL Jewel debarked this morning... here's a vid clip from YVR security checkin at 10:30am this morning. https://twitter.com/AMacOnAir/status/1521180040905428992
  17. If you are cruisin Holland America.... have your VeriFLY completed ahead of time will shave you 30-60 minutes off your check-in time as they don't need to do manual Covid verifications. If you are still at home, also have a printed boarding pass so you minimize the number of phone swipes and taps. It just increases the delays to the people in line behind you. While I like the idea of being paperless, I don't like it when it increases delays. make sure your phone is charged and have an external charger I discovered a bug in the Navigator app where it sometimes logs me off every 5 minutes. If you are using one of those cryptic password managers like me... be prepared to enter that passward frequently during the checkin.
  18. Covid requirements change week by week. When I debarked on Saturday in Vancouver, there was no Covid testing. Super easy for a local, however I assume those that needed a flight afterwards were looking for a test. When passengers debarked in Seattle on Friday... some Koningsdam passengers were tested in the main dining room upper level. Not sure if those who cruised the Hawaiian segment got tested more than those on the ship for shorter days.
  19. I too was on the Vancouver 2 day repo... There was no "Carnival line". Only the Royal Princess and the Koningsdam were docked in Vancouver on April 28th. I'm not sure the story on the Royal Princess. It's been docked in Vancouver for a week and leaving today. There was someone at the Covid screening section asking if I had VeriFLY. I said yes and she directed me to the express kiosks which had staff to help push the buttons. So glad I had VeriFLY as I didn't need to be standing in that massive queue of people doing manual Covid verifications. From street to holding area was like 20 minutes for me. Very quick. Slowest part was security screening with the Xray's and waiting for the ship to load as they wanted extra time to sanitize a Code Orange situation. the HAL navigator app kept logging out for me I had a paper boarding pass where others were slowly swiping and tapping their way to the barcodes making others behind them wait.
  20. I debarked yesterday. It very easy as a majority of the debarkations were locals. As I did not need a flight, I had breakfast in the MDR before casually walking off at 9:15pm. As the season gets busier, others are likely to have more different experience... especially with the stress of a post-cruise flight afterwards.

  23. I just got off the Koningsdam in Vancouver. There's frequent questions on where to store luggage for a pre/post-cruise trip? Tip a nearby hotel? Details here... https://westcoastsightseeing.com/services/all-day-baggage-storage/ Yes, they do sightseeing tours too.
