  1. Steward has to do it regardless of when. They usually don't make changes until after you board anyway.
  2. Hence the problem with children on the dance floor. Not that some parents care what the rules are. I do know that in the Compass we have seen a statement requesting kids not be on the dance floor in the evenings.
  3. It wasn't chicken "patties". It was chicken breast pieces with a sauce and it was called Honey Stung? Chicken. It was just okay.
  4. How can you not get how children on the dance floor can be a major issue? We had a conversation with CD Bobby on EN last year. He said he has a lot of issues with people letting their small children run around on the dance floor while adults are trying to dance. They become a major trip and fall hazard for adults who are just trying to dance. There is zero reason for kids to be playing on dance floors when adults are dancing. Other than people being afraid to tell their children no.
  5. Someone always says this. I haven't seen adults running up and down the stairs, hallways, around corners into people or pushing all the elevator buttons. In fact, in 36 cruises, we have seen a couple of adults arguing one time and a couple of drunk people barely able to walk. That's pretty much it.
  6. This. Our friends were with us on EN in an OV in April and had a cooler. We were in a JS. I have seen several videos of insides on Vision class and you can see there are no coolers.
  7. Yes, there is also a purse forum and it's all about designer purses, bragging and showing them off. I can't remember the name of the forum anymore.
  8. Problem is, anyone can sue over anything for any reason and most just hope to settle for some cash. My MIL, who was almost legally blind at the time tripped over a curb in a hospital parking garage as she was approaching a stairwell with my FIL. They decided to sue because the curb wasn't painted. I can't remember her injuries, but they weren't severe. My BIL had his divorce lawyer represent them. They came to a fairly quick settlement (medical bills and about 65K in cash). My FIL had threatened to sue several Dr's over the years but this was the first time he actually did. Some people have that mentality. I figure if I trip over a curb it's because I wasn't paying attention.
  9. There is a jewelry board called Price Scope. I no longer go on it as it's full of all kinds of snobs, including watch ones. There are threads with people who not only own lots of expensive jewelry, but also watches. They treat their high end watches like expensive jewelry and believe me, they are very snobby about them. I have some very nice jewelry, but when it comes to watches, I don't even wear my regular old Citizen Eco-Drives anymore (I have a couple of very nice ones) because I wear my fitbit everyday which is far from pretty lol.
  10. Most lawsuits are settled out of court not necessarily with a "winner". Just because one party settles money on the other does not mean they are accepting any blame. They're basically just making them go away.
  11. People who haven't been cruising for a long time don't realize how little the cost of cruising has gone up over the years compared to other things. To keep prices more affordable, they've cut other ways. Just ask anyone on here who cruised 30 years ago how much it cost to go on what is now considered a very small ship with a lot less amenities (no slides, one pool, less entertainment). Of course, cruising used to be an elegant vacation where people dressed up, enjoyed a show, ate multiple course meals and was less about being constantly active. Cabins were also very different.
  12. The angle of the window (top and bottom) along with the height of the railing would make it virtually impossible for anyone to "fall" out. The design is actually the way it is to prevent it. I don't know of any other case where anyone has gone out of a window on the pool deck. The cases I've seen are people who go over go from the railing on a balcony or from an upper deck with a railing. I'm sure though that if this goes to a jury trial, the defense will do their best to only get jurors who have never been on a cruise ship.
  13. The video also shows that the step grandfather stuck his head out the window before lifting the girl out so that argument doesn't hold any water. But, color blindness doesn't apply to window tint. Color blind people can see variations in darkness and light. They just can't differentiate between colors themselves (worst case).
  14. Oh I know. The McDonald's coffee case was actually different than what most people think it was. It was more than just hot coffee served to someone. It was so hot it caused permanent burns that never would have happened had it been served at a proper temp. We met a lawyer on a cruise that knew the lawyers involved and a lot of the case. He'd read the entire thing. He told us all the things that the media never reported. That said, this case is a little different. The step grandfather did what he did entirely of his own volition. There were no extenuating circumstances except those caused by him. As I said, I (and others here) have been on Freedom and know exactly where this happened and how it couldn't have happened without the step grandfather doing what he did.
  15. It's become the stupid need to be warned about everything. Like the tag on a hair dryer saying not to use it in the tub. As we've seen, they used to have small booklets for autos with basic info such as what fuses, battery, tire inflation and how often to do maintenance. Now, they also tell you not to drink the coolant. The fact that grown adults need to be told not to do something stupid is insane. As someone who has been on Freedom and seen the video, they have zero case. As far as I'm concerned the step grandfather should have received jail time. To me, what he did is no different than something like running a stop sign and hitting someone and killing them. Grown a** adults should not need to be warned with a sign to not dangle a child out a window.
  16. They should not settle and I also doubt they want to. I want them to make an example of this event. It's already too easy to sue over really stupid things but this goes beyond to entirely only one person's fault.
  17. They're hoping Royal will settle, like most large corporations do to avoid having to fight in court with the expenses and time involved. I'm hoping Royal stands their ground. The lawyers are hoping to get a judge or jury (not sure which applies in this case) that will act sympathetically to the family against the "big bad corporation".
  18. Um, what about the fact that Royal resets the clock at like 4 am now? This was discussed ad nauseum.
  19. Well, the market has improved a bit in the last couple of months so all our stocks are doing well. Outside of the funds we're invested in, we have individual stocks in several companies-Alphabet (Google), Amazon,Pfizer, John Deere, GE, GE Healthcare, RCL, and a few others. We are in the current position (I'm retired and DH is retiring this Dec) that we are pulling profits and moving them into more stable cash and CD's. Anyway, point is, RCL was never a stock we would have normally bought. It can and has been pretty volatile. I can't think of another stock that we own that took such a big hit, although we knew it would recover.
  20. Except if you watch the video, it appears he didn't prop her or sit her. He literally lifted her up and over the railing and out the window. She didn't fall off any edge, she was dropped.
  21. We bought our shares solely for the OBC. We only follow what it's doing out of curiosity. We're meeting with our CFP in about 30 min and he sees the stock the same way we do. We have other stocks in our IRA's that have been much more profitable.
  22. This is nuts. Exactly what liability can they possibly assign to Royal? We all know who is at fault and it's not Royal. The family ought to be suing the step-grandfather if anyone at all.
