  1. Just off Magic yesterday. First, my Drinks On Us offer did not show up on any of my paperwork so I called Players Club before we left to see what my offer was. We both had drinks on us in the casino. After dinner first night, went to the wonderful smoke free casino and checked with the host. She said no cards anymore, it’s automatically in your account info. While there we asked about the free fun play all platinum and Diamond guests get, and that’s added to your account. Ordering drinks didn’t take long at all.

I got moved because they said they needed to do major maintenance in that area. Probably lowering the WiFi speed, lol. Just kidding.

That’s what our steward told my friend too. Don’t know if you noticed or not but the forward end was blocked off too.

I just got off the Magic this morning. WiFi kind of depended where I was when using it. I originally had an aft cabin on deck 2, very aft, window looking at the wake. My WiFi speed was 15mps. They moved me to a balcony cabin 7433 where I could barely connect at all and it was painfully slow. On Lido deck and Deck 11 speed was about 5mps.

So they do have good WiFi but they don't have the access points covering the whole ship.

also got off the Magic this morning, and we were on deck 2. Noticed the corridor was closed off by the aft elevators and wondered what was going on. We figured they may have been using those for isolation rooms. I’m assuming they told you why they moved you. I didn’t have WiFi but my friend had the social media and that worked great. I was really surprised at how well the Hub app worked.

So, haven't you been exposed 😷 ???  Of course you were !!!!!

    Try Gov2Go for your area.

Actually I was this past weekend, or at least that’s what I thought. Had visitors Saturday and Sunday. The one lady is in wheel chair. Monday her daughter tested her with a home self test because she was having some difficulty breathing and was sore all over. The test was positive! So I’m going out of town for a week this Sunday and needed to know. Couldn’t get appointments at CVS or Walgreens, but our Health Department does testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. No appointment. So I was about 25th in line when they opened at 9 this morning. Took about an hour to get in and out and should have results in 2 to 5 days, but they said usually 2.  Later today I received word my visitor got another test at her doctors and it was negative!  So not too worried about my results now, but this option wouldn’t work for cruising since we leave on Monday August 30. The nurse at our testing site said they did 281 swabs on Tuesday! That’s a lot for a small town.

You can only book your appointment up to 3 days in advance of when you need to be tested. That is why you are seeing no availability.

I’m looking at day by day, not for future. There is nothing available in the area we live in at Walgreens or cvs. In other words, say I looked today for appointment today, tomorrow and so on. There are NO APPOINTMENTS.

  6. I live in Northeast Florida, a hot spot. All the Walgreens and CVS that do testing show no appointments available for 2 weeks out. Our health department does testing, but only on Tuesdays and Thursdays so any of those are currently not open for me unless things change before our August 30 Magic cruise. I can go to the urgent care and get tested but charge is $50 unless you’ve been exposed.

I was just in FL and returned today. We had to get a rapid test for a person that was with us (no symptoms or anything, but had to be safe for family when we got back). It took an hour for the paperwork mostly because I was not the parent and the parents weren't with us. We waited 2 hours to get the test and another 30 for the result. The tests are there, just extremely long waits.

its getting crazy here in Florida, especially northeast.  We are sailing hopefully August 30 on Magic out of PC. After reading all the stuff with RCL this morning, I started looking for places nearby where we could go get a rapid or whatever Carnival may want, test. Every CVS  and Walgreens for 75 miles had no available testing appointments! We would probably go to our health department and wait in line, but don’t know if results would be back in time. Hope some of this dies down before the end of August!

  8. 75vette, the questionnaire we’re talking about here is the initial question where Carnival basically asks if you’re vaccinated or not. A short one question survey. I believe this is what carnival is using to determine the 95% vaccinated, and they need those answered and submitted ASAP. The ones you’re mentioning will be as individual cruises get closer. Just clarifying, you know some people will panic and think they didn’t get that questionnaire!  Enjoy your cruise, we are only 39 days away!

I have someone in a one of my roll calls on the Breeze right now.  She said the non-smoking casino is really dead. Also it is forever to get drinks because the wait staff has to go back up to deck 5 casino for the drinks.

If they do like they used to do when smoking was on one side and non on the other, all the good slots people like to play are on the smoking side! Guess that’s on purpose. We usually go to the casino in the early morning before it gets crowded.

  10. Never been on Horizon, but have on Magic. Couple of years ago. From the pictures, I believe I like Magic better. Horizon seems to have a more modern looking decor. The theme on Magic is prettier to me. I also personally like sailing out of Port Canaveral vs Miami. I’m sure you’ll get plenty of other opinions!

The Southern Caribbean is my favorite! We’ve done it twice now. Had another booked before COVID, but decided not to rebook that itinerary because others in our group wanted to do a different itinerary.  Also usually in the Fall/Winter there aren’t that many kids.

  11. I’m just guessing here, but I think you can only use those special deals once. I booked one of the Magic players club deals yesterday for an August 2021 cruise at a greatly reduced rate thru an offer I had. I looked later on and I no longer have that offer, however my husband does have the same offer. I’m assuming I could book another one of those deals under his offer. Hope this helps, and hope we will be sailing soon.

  12. My son, who is red, and my grandson who is also red, get great offers for Cheers, or casino offers, from $200 to $500 on board credit all the time. I’m 19 days away from Diamond and hardly ever get good offers. I have a hot streak offer for up to $700 off on cabin and a huge $25 on board credit. Seems they know they have my business but are trying to get the ones who seldom cruise to book more often.

Taxis are available at the port. You don't have to go "up the hill" to get a taxi.

Yes they are available at the port, BUT you have to walk up a fairly steep hill and thru the little shopping area to get to the taxi area.

The best advice I can give you is to rent a mobility scooter for DH to use.

  14. On our last 2 cruises on Liberty, our maitre d’ was Aaron. This was January 2020, and he was awesome! He walked around the room talking to everyone, and would dance with the crew when it was “showtime”! He said he would never ask his crew to do anything he wouldn’t do, so that’s why he always danced with them, even on the tabletop! Good dancer, too. He said he was working on his singing and would be doing that too. Hope to see him again on Liberty in February 2022.
