  1. Yes. Clearly they are being driven by someone higher in the food chain.
  2. Congrats. I can only base it on my one comped Celebrity cruise. So far, nada. But I will be getting triple points for the next Celebrity cruise that I (under) paid for. Celebrity charged way too little. So it all evens out.
  3. Oh, but when the pendulum swings the other way, it won't be the wind that's howling.
  4. So casino players are double dipping. Even more unfair. They should not earn sea days on comped cruises. Celebrity doesn't give points to comped cruisers.
  5. If you book through a travel agent, you are supposed to contact the travel agent and not Carnival. You should not be surprised by the reply or read anything into it.
  6. What the heck is this thing suspended in the middle of the atrium? (a rhetorical question). Not sure I would want to stand under it.
  7. The head waiter made it a point to point out that they didn't cook the food, they only served the food and not to hold that against them.
  8. Loyalty programs are marketing programs and exist to increase business. They have budgets and expect a certain return on investment. I don't see anything about a loyalty program, especially Carnival's loyalty program, enticing gamblers to book. Nothing competes with a free room and all the other casino perks. Casino operations are certainly capable of creating a parallel program with similar benefits if they wanted to and stop diluting the real loyalty program for paying customers.
  9. On my recent Reflection cruise I received the speech several times from my head waiter (and only from him). Then the last night of the cruise, I found out it was his last cruise and he was retiring. What the hell difference would it make? I gave them the 10s and accidentally (really) forgot to mention their names in the comment section - oops. I did remember to name the cabin steward - perhaps because he didn't ask for anything.
  10. i just added someone to a Carnival cruise and flight (not Pride) and Carnival couldn't add the flight unless I told them what I had already booked. It's crazy but you can get good prices (sometimes). I also don't like that they only book coach flights - I can't upgrade with the airline until after I pay Carnival. At least that was what I was told today. That isn't how it works with Princess, Celebrity, Holland and others I have booked airfare through. For now I'm keeping the flight booked through Carnival, but also booked a backup (and better) flight with FF miles, albeit more than I wanted to use. But have assigned seats on that flight and can upgrade anytime. I'll do that after Jan 1st.
  11. I don't think Carnival is going to confirm until after you pay for the flights. You can certainly do that before final payment for the cruise.
  12. You're in for a shock if you think that still happens.
  13. No doubt. The old time Princess cruisers are still reeling from when Carnival bought Princess and things started going downhill. The problem is Carnival cruisers outnumber Princess cruisers by a large number and would swamp the Princess ships and bankrupt the Princess loyalty program. But those who want to sail on Princess shouldn't need additional incentive. The Princess loyalty program still counts either sea days OR cruises. 16 short cruises on Princess (or less if you cruise solo or in suites), and you are at the highest loyalty level on Princess. 8 four day solo Princess cruises and you can mingle with the finest.
  14. Most Princess cruisers don't want to sail on Carnival?
  15. Splendor was a Costa ship but I digress. And I've been to Alaska on Spirit and Miracle a few times and going again next year. I've been on ships too warm and we asked the Hotel Director about it and that is when I was told they can adjust the temperature of the public areas and so the whole ship but not so much the cabins. Next cruise I'll find the Chief Engineer. I'm interested in finding out the science behind the ship temperature. I'll get to the bottom of it. No worries.
  16. If things are sold out, they generally say sold out. Maybe call Carnival and ask?
  17. Warm is relative to the ambient temperature. I'll see if I can get a minute with the chief engineer on our next Carnival cruise and ask.
  18. I would have asked again and if it wasn't handled on the spot, asked for the food manager or perhaps the hotel director. You should have received some sort of response.
  19. I still have my doubts. The newest Carnival ships, starting with Vista class, do have individual units in each cabin. Of what type, I don't know, but also doubt their heat capability. Carnival's newest ships (not including Costa builds), don't have a cover pool and so indicate to me that they are designed for warm water cruising.
  20. I know ships can vary the temperature of the chilled water to effect the temperature of the ship but it does take a while. If the average outside temperature varies a great deal between cruises I think it would be quite difficult to maintain a consistent indoor temperature. Cruises would flip flop between too hot or too cold. As for electric heat in the cabins, I was unaware of that. Do Carnival cabins have that capability?
  21. Why? In my experience on Reflection, the Premium Internet was a waste of money.
  22. I don't think there is much they can do for individual cabins. They should be able to raise the temperature of the whole ship, so it sounds like that isn't working properly. I still don't think there is a heat setting.
  23. Celebration has at least two self serve soda stations.
