Look on page 8 of your edocs. “Guests are not allowed to bring beer or hard liquor onboard for consumption or any other use. Guests wishing to bring personal wine onboard with them embarkation day may do so, limited to two (2) bottles per guest, but when consumed in any shipboard restaurant, bar or dining venue, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of $25.00. A corkage fee does not apply to guests with a Classic Beverage Package or Premium Beverage Package.”

I saw that. Search for the word “wine” in the pdf and you’ll see it addressed in two places, one says per cabin, the other is per passenger. The “per passenger” policy is newer. Unfortunately someone didn’t catch the fact that it’s referenced elsewhere in the edocs.

Also… there is no way to find out in advance 100%. The crew make these decisions during the cruise so they are not published in advance of the cruise. If you prefer the bigger festivities of chic night in the MDR, make your reservations for the evenings you leave ports (which you have not been at overnight) and you will be 90% safe.

GENERALLY…chic nights tend to be on sea days, and typically not on the last day of the cruise. They will never coincide with an overnight port stay. Although if there is an overnight port stay, it could be the evening on the day you leave that port.

Summit Boston-Canada 9/11-9/21 Notes From Onboard

@5:00_Somewheredo you think some of the staffing issues on summit are getting better with each Canada sailing now? Or the same? -
This is me hourly.

Question for those on SUMMIT in AQUA right now
letsgogogo replied to letsgogogo's topic in Celebrity Cruises
What time does Blu start winding down. I’d we want to dine late, at what point do the wait times simmer down to under 15 max? -

Wait times for seating at Blu, is this normal?
letsgogogo replied to keifernny's topic in Celebrity Cruises
For sure. In most parts of Spain, only American tourists are in a restaurant before 9:00. Most restaurants don’t even start dinner service until 8, and locals are not dining until 9 or even 10. -
Yes. It used to be two bottles per cabin but it changed to two bottles per person.

Quarantined onboard - did you receive your cruise rebate yet

Curious… if you win a MoveUp bid and pay substantially more than your original booking, do they include that spend when calculating your prorated daily refund? -
Maybe a lot of first timers who haven’t watched enough YouTube content to know luggage comes later, no MDR not open for lunch (for most), no there isn’t magically a suite for you, no there aren’t suddenly connecting rooms for you., I bet that’s 3/4 of the line.

I think you have only been looking at the reviews here on CC for that ship. I will encourage you to jump in some of the rollcall groups for cruises on Summit currently and in the past weeks. Someone else gave me that recommendation and I have found it to be extremely helpful. You will see posts from people on the ship right now. It’s surprise me, but some people still like to post and interact on here even while they’re on their vacation. Go to the role call links for celebrity on here, find Summit, and take a look at the discussions. There is also a private discussion group for summit on a popular social media site. I’m sure you realize that public reviews and postings are heavily biased tours negative feedback. People who have a great time are less inclined to go online and talk all about it. Some will, I’m just saying in general. That said, you are correct. There continues to be challenges with understaffing and while the crew is working very hard, there are not enough of them. Most of this is not the cruise lines fault. Many of the countries that provide labor to this industry still have barriers to getting visas and documentation due to Covid. Some have criticized that the cruise lines should limit occupancy to better match the staffing. That is not entirely realistic because nobody really wants to spend way more for for their cruise, and most of the staffing issues come up long after people have booked. We will be on Summit October 3. My expectations are managed. It may not be the best cruise I will ever go on, but I am ready for a vacation, and I intend to make the most of it. Most feedback i have seen from those roll calls is overwhelmingly positive except for slower service. The bigger complaints are about careless passengers not masking while in the theater (still required) coughing all over everybody else while unmakes, not washing their hands after the restroom, and general entitlement. if the lower level of service is a big issue for you, (no judgement here) it may be better to postpone cruising until all this resolves. It’s not specific to summit, or even celebrity. It’s the industry.

That makes total sense. I’m watching the site regularly but nothing. And honestly, the max MoveUp bid is about as high as I’m willing to go. (Moving to the few verandas that just opened up is more expensive now than my MoveUp max bid.)

Meanwhile people are paying for these suites. The demand is there. On many itineraries they are sold out long before embarkation.

Drink Package - Building up a “Stash”
letsgogogo replied to carolina_yankee's topic in Celebrity Cruises
On celebrity? Wow. -
That all makes perfect sense. I’m rolling on the hope that it’s unlikely someone would book a concierge cabin and then bid the max ($1750 pp for this sailing) for a category they could have booked in the first place for far less (assuming it was available.) My problem is that when I booked, only inside were left, and I got a great deal. So $3500 total to upgrade to aqua is probably not much different than had I been able to book aqua in the first place. I’m betting that someone who booked concierge is not willing to spend that to upgrade to aqua.

Good to know. Not in a suite here. I always front tip my cabin attendant on day 1, pretty substantially. I just didn’t think they were allowed to do this. -

Really? I thought bev packages did not include bevs in your cabin and only cover waters and drinks at bars and dining venues. -
Question for those who know. I have a move a bed for aqua class, and I bet the maximum amount possible because only inside was available when I booked and we got it for a really low price. I’m wondering, do travelers in oceanview rooms and veranda rooms get preference over inside when bidding for aqua class? Or is the playing field level and it’s just a matter of who bids the highest? I did see that celebrity recently announced a multiplier based on captains club level, but it appears quite minimal. We are on Summit for October 3 and there is currently no aqua classrooms available. They have been sold out for months. Trying to gauge how certain an upgrade would be if I am bidding the highest possible, and whether lower bids from those already in say concierge class would be given preference.

Yes! I’m hoping we can go to the early theater shows and fit Blu in for dinner after. -
Drink Package - Building up a “Stash”

Has always been my strategy on celebrity cruises. We make it a point to request waters from whatever venue we were close to the at point where we were heading back to our cabin. It was very easy to build up a stash and not inconvenient at all. I totally agree, pain in the butt to have to go out to track down water when you are comfortable in your cabin.
