  1. Are you sure there are saunas, free or otherwise? I’ve certainly never seen them.
  2. I’ve very rarely seen any children on Fred Olsen ships, and those I have seen were officers’ children.
  3. Totally agree. I was looking for ones to the Med but there’s nothing. I have fond memories of one to various ports in Greece, the volcano on Stromboli at dusk etc. Even a planned one to the Black Sea which had to be cancelled thanks to that nice Mr Putin. Hopefully more will appear later.
  4. From memory, I think VesselFinder showed it due to arrive at 07:00 on 02.11.24.
  5. As a vegetarian, I have to say that smell would not be appealing! But each to their own naturally!
  6. I agree entirely, the discussion was about food on cruises rather than on a residential ship.
  7. I guess some do, certainly this lady always does her research. https://basiak.blog/palmetum-gardens/
  8. Each to their own I guess. I’ve never heard anyone complain or feel the need for even more food. The quantity and quality available at meal times is quite enough for most people. People tend to be attracted to the fact that FO has smaller ships (eg Braemar/Odyssey) and can thus visit destinations not available to those huge behemoths. Also the friendliness of the crew/passengers and the range of speakers. All day availability of food is not a consideration.
  9. Only ever sailed with Fred Olsen but can’t imagine that Saga or Ambassador are any different. Maybe American cruise lines are different. Why would anyone expect food outside normal dining hours? If you really have to eat between meals then bring snacks on board.
  10. Crikey, that sounds highly impractical from the point of view of staffing and catering,
  11. Well we’ve done several cruises with Fred Olsen, including on Braemar, and there was no food available outside mealtimes. With three meals a day plus afternoon tea, I don’t think anyone would need any more!
  12. Why would food be available outside of mealtimes?
  13. Tenerife is the third island they’ve visited in the Canaries. According to VesselFinder, she’s due to arrive in Dakar on 2nd November.
  14. That stop in Gijon was some time ago and this person seemed to enjoy her visit there https://basiak.blog/gijon-spain/
  15. Can you provide evidence of the “sticky carpets”? And I’ll say it again, the Braemar was a lovely ship when we’ve cruised on it. Although I agree that I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my life on an inside cabin.
  16. Sorry, I've got no idea what a Repo Man is! 🤔
  17. Ah OK, I understand; she seems to be turning to starboard now.
  18. According to VesselFinder & CruiseMapper, she’s bound for Arrecife but per the map, she seems to have steamed right passed there?
  19. We’ve never cruised with Ambassador so can’t compare. Also don’t know what you mean by the “going down for dinner experience” but I’m someone who is constantly irritated by formal evenings on FO. I do wish they’d stop them but I also realise that some people enjoy them so I’ll put up with them.
  20. As you say, tastes differ. I’ve always found the wines perfectly acceptable but then someone else would disagree. I would never pay for a drinks package, not least because my wife doesn’t drink.
  21. Don’t meant to be rude but I think she’d feel very silly in a mink coat. Would stand out a mile compared to everyone else. And not in a good way. Sorry!
  22. I guess you’re asking about specific Christmas and New Year events. FO will, I’m sure, let you know nearer the time but you could always call or email them.
  23. Strictly speaking, the RED cabins are described as reserved, not sold.
  24. Malaga is lovely, so are the Canaries; you don’t need to just state in the very touristy bits.
