  1. It depends. I've never been able to book a lunch if I have a dinner reservation. It tells me I already have another reservation.
  2. You need to wait until you are on board.
  3. The press release specifically stated that this was going onto carnival and adia brand ships first with the other lines to follow. This was supposed to start in December 2022. It’s surprising that the Rotterdam was able to get this before December. I have not sailed on the Rotterdam so I’m not sure how I could possibly know this. I’ve googled and found nothing. You would think hal would like this to be known. There were posts on this thread expressing the same scepticism so I’m curious as to why only my post was selected for questioning. For many, many years hal has said they would be offering the Mariners discounts for restaurants on line. That has failed to materialize. Many of Hal’s processes seem to be very manual, such as booking a cabana. This causes me reason to be sceptical. Ymmv.
  4. Not everyone has a suite. I don't want to visit guest services and stand in line but those that do enjoy that its all good.
  5. Thank you for the suggestion. I did look at this one when it was on the nieuw statendam last year and it was so expensive. I see it’s still around the same. The dates were better than this one. I have precious few holidays now so there is no way I can make this work. Also it’s over the month end so it’s double trouble. I do appreciate the suggestion though.
  6. Write where? Can you imagine how many emails and letters they get? Over the years I’ve suggested many things on my surveys. I’ve even filled out surveys that were random. It doesn’t change. Just because you like the Alaska itinerary doesn’t tell me anything other than Alaska is popular. I’ve also seen others suggest a very similar itinerary to the one I’ve suggested. Crickets.
  7. That is a great deal. I've been looking at a cruise with an obstructed balcony for $433 per day! That does include HIA though. That's not cheap to me.
  8. So that's proof that they listen? That's not on my wish list. I wouldn't take that cruise if it was free. I'd love to see a cruise from Eastern Canada to Iceland and Greenland and not one that is 30 plus days. If it's doable I'd love to see it around 14 or 15 days. I doubt anyone is wishing for cutbacks in entertainment or less enrichment speakers or to have ship packed to the nuts but maybe I'm wrong. Gus has never phoned me for a chat.
  9. I'm not afraid to try other lines. I'm elite on princess. I've also cruised celebrity. I really thought my next cruise would be on celebrity until I saw how their cfar insurance is. My reasons for canceling are not the typical so this is what I need. I have medical separately. On Princess the cfar only gives you fcc unless it's for a covered reason which mine would likely not be. Sometimes it's not as easy to pivot to something else. Things I love on hal Cabanas Club orange Hals breakfast menu, its very extensive Access to your room early The food is generally very good in the mdr Specialty restaurants and discounts that go along with it I can tell you my list is much shorter for other lines. I'm not in the financial space for luxury lines.
  10. I was thinking the same here. I want to hear good and bad, not just the sugar coat. Don't dare say anything negative or get ready for a pile on. I've said many good things about hal that seemed to be ignored by several.
  11. Absolutely, I think it's a must have and much less painful than verifly.
  12. It likely depends on the port but it doesn't appear to be in use. It isn't new. I did mine for my Nov cruise and they had stopped using it at least a month before. Hal seems to have misplaced the button to stop these notifications.
  13. I wonder if uou get the speciality waters anymore. It used to be vitamin water and hal doesn't do plastic bottles anymore.
  14. Please share. What time do you usually go at? If I go to the cafeteria I usually go as soon as they are open to avoid the crowds. It's still busy but usually you can find a table. One day on the koningsdam we had a later port and it was a mass of humanity like I'd never seen before it was scary. Would love to hear what a better time might be so I can adjust when I go. Thanks.
  15. That makes great sense. Even for my small cruises it's different. I've booked back to back cruises lately as 2 separate because it wasn't available as one. On each one I've gotten 2 5 star freebies for dinners. If booked as a 14 I get 2 total. I understand this is totally different than your example.
  16. I never take mountains of food. Generally I have a bun and salad for lunch. The odd time I'll go to the pinnacle and don't order mountains if food there either. The only people I've ever seen in the buffet with loaded plates are staff. If you go to the dive in that is different. I know hal says that. It's hasn't been my personal experience. I'm not speaking for the experience of everyone on this board.
  17. I love that idea. Not that is is the same but I've cruised forever with hal. I'm fairly certain they used to bring dessert around for people to look at and decide on what they would like. If I remember correctly, at one point they also had dessert displayed at the front of the mdr to look at. I know a lot of the meat entrees can be large such as the prime rib. When I've ordered fish it has rarely been larger than 1 or 2 ounces with a baby potato cut in half. Generally I don't find that filling but I don't like to needlessly waste food so I'm not going to order duplicates out of the gate. I've seen posts on some live from threads on what people eat at different meals. It's not terribly surprising to think one or two ounces of fish would be filling after having a very substantial lunch.
  18. I must have missed the guidelines where it says you can’t read or participate in board discussions if you don’t have a cruise booked with the line. Can you supply that? I’ve reported both your posts.
  19. I’ve seen many, many instances of it being ridiculously high. Maybe you’ve been lucky. Rarely do I see if for $50 but I’m Canadian so it’s going to easily be $70 cdn. Usually it’s a lot more.
  20. If you have been to most locations in the world I imagine perks do matter. I know they do to me. Do you turn down perks when you go to interesting places?
  21. I have zero cruises booked with hal. There is no need to make things up.
  22. I’ve done open for many, many years on both hal and Princess. The only time it’s ever been a problem prior to the pandemic was on the formal nights as they called them then. I generally would eat around 6 and I rarely had a wait. I did eat with others. Seems to me the issues are lack of service staff not having open dining. Not everyone likes to eat at 5 or 7:30 or eight (whenever traditional is now) or chased to the lido. I have zero desire to eat with the same people night after night.
  23. Was this on a short cruise? On a pinnacle ship? I find that things can vary greatly from ship to ship and length of cruise. I’ve seen people mention things that they experienced on a 30 plus day cruise that I’ve never seen. Also if you are sailing under capacity that makes a huge difference.
