  1. @smitty34877Happy birthday to your darling grandchildren!! 🎂 Many thanks for our veterans that have fought in our wars to keep us and others free. My first husband was a door gunner in a helicopter in Viet Nam in the late 60s. He got messed up a lot by it but is doing wonderfully now. My DB was drafted in the early 60s but lucked out and was sent to Germany. My DF and his two brothers never served in WWII as they were essential industry running a dairy. I am heading to see DB in a few minutes. No word on how his visit went to the surgeon. From what my DS says he is still really sleepy and talks with his eyes closed and his bed sores are spreading. I feel so sorry for him. Sandi thanks for sharing the photos from the previous port date. We will be in Manaus March 4&5 next year. If we do anything there we will do a HA tour. I will pass on the trout, the cocktail but Bandol is a favorite of mine. Roy thanks for sharing your itinerary. It sounds like a wonderful relaxing cruise. We will be in Puerto Limon on January 7th. I hope you will have some photos to share. @richwmnthank you for compiling the Fleet and Daily for us each day. Prayers for all on our care list, Lenda @Quartzsite CruiserI hope Steve's transfer goes well today. Prayers for the people in Ukraine. Have a nice Friday! Nancy
  2. Good morning! It is a beautiful morning in very SW Michigan as we are getting ready to head home. I hope we can get some yard work done as it will be the last for the season but who knew we would have 70s this late in November. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn. I was supposed to go Cartagena in 2017 on a Panama Canal transit but for some reason we had Aruba switched for that port. @rafinmdRoy I hope your Eurodam cruise is a go today. I will give you a hopeful Bon Voyage! 🍾 Thanks for the Daily care and celebrations report you provide for us daily. @dfishthe first pork chop recipe looks so yummy as does the Fish bowl cocktail and the white Bordeaux wine. My day started with an email from HA stating that our Shorex in Rio has been cancelled due to road closures for Carnival. There really wasn't much to choose from for someone that is terrified of heights. We were taking a monster truck jungle tour. Being offline mostly for the summer I missed all the tours in our Roll Call. I guess we will try to find a taxi to take us to the Botanical Garden. Prayers for all on our care list and the people of Ukraine. Lenda I am so happy to hear Steve is going back to his rehab. Have a wonderful day! Nancy
  3. @Quartzsite CruiserLenda I am thankful for Steve's improvement and he can move to a step down room. Finally got in touch of one of my DS and DB is still in the rehab and they did an ultrasound with no results reported. Tomorrow he takes a ambulance transfer to his surgeon hopefully for the MRI too. Meanwhile bed sores are spreading. He can't get a break. Thank you for all of your prayers. Nancy
  4. Jacqui thank you for sharing your wonderful trip and for the beautiful poem and photo from Jose's ash service. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous!! @ger_77Thank you for the heads up on the wine issues. I think when we order our wine package we will carry in our own wine so we don't have to go through the hassle of no wine steward. Keep it in our possession on our table so we can pour at will. All of you thank you for sharing your wonderful voyage including @0106.
  5. Good morning. We are waking up in New Buffalo with clouds and sun and 45.degrees. We have two more warm days and then we pay the price for weeks of warm weather and winter sets in. I spoke with my DS and she said while visiting DB he would talk but not open his eyes. We are all really worried about him. Thanks for the Daily Reports and for our Care and celebrations list. Roy I hope the Eurodam can port tomorrow and you can start your cruise. Have a wonderful day!
  6. @Quartzsite CruiserLenda I hope that Steve's blood clots can be resolved soon. So sad that he has to be moved back to the hospital. I am afraid my DB may be heading back to the hospital again. I visited him yesterday and he was very lethargic. I told DSIL to watch the white blood cell count because if is is going up the infection is probably not getting better but worse. Sure enough this morning he has high WBC count. Now they want to give him a MRI so I think he may be back to the hospital again. I hope that he doesn't lose his leg. On a brighter note after all that time in hospital he has dropped down below 250 pounds so hopefully it will be easier when he can get back on his feet. So my DB is Radiology Day for my family. We vote in early October. Filled out our absentee ballots and off they went to the Post Office. I hope everyone who is delayed one was or another due to the hurricane aren't messed up too badly. Have a good day. Nancy
  7. We lucked out on HA, one time in Tampa and the other in Fort Lauderdale. No table was set up yet so security said move on.
  8. Good Monday morning! I can't hug a bear today as I have a teddy at the cabin and not here. After having squamous cell cancer on my face with ensuing Mohs surgery I am really aware to use sunscreen and I have a very large sun hat I carry when we travel to the Caribbean. A great quote, music is such an important part of many of our lives. @StLouisCruisers and @lindaler I love looking at the Fleet Report watching the Volendam heading West towards Fort Lauderdale. The excitement is building for our upcoming cruises for sure. @lindalerthanks for the information about our final packet for our cruise is still awaited so I don't have to worry I missed ours. We are calling the Luggage Direct today for our bag pickup so we can tick that off from our lists. Terry and Graham, I am sorry to hear that hip replacements are in your future. On a good note my DH had both knees replaced at once and I did a couple of the post surgery group classes with him and the therapist said hip replacements are easier than knees. Still no piece of cake. Today's chili pie recipes look wonderful. Debbie I am glad you are getting settled into your new home. The cocktail looks like another one for sitting around the pool on a BHB. The wine looks good too, I used to love Malbec but I guess my tastes have changed but this one could be a winner if it could be found. Sandi thanks for the photos of Cabo. Prayers for all on our care list and the people of Ukraine. Happy wishes to all on cruises now or soon to be. I will head to see my DB in about an hour then come home and do some garden work. We have a few good days this week I never thought in early October we might have one more 70 degree day in November. We are heading to New Buffalo again tomorrow. DF keeps getting free nights at the casino hotel, I know he spends a fortune in their specialty steak house and I think he may gamble a wee bit more than he owns up to. It will be a beautiful drive through the countryside on sunny days. Have a wonderful day!
  9. Just got back from seeing DB. Previous message wouldn't go through so thankfully it did when I returned. He looks much better and having PT today. Thank you for all of your prayers on his behalf! Nancy
  10. Good Sunday morning! I stayed in bed a long time this morning because I was up till midnight watching the WS and the celebrations afterward. We had a beautiful sunrise so that got me out of bed finally. Heading to visit DB in rehab soon. He said don't come too early, that is fine with me. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report Rich. The quote sounds like it came from the book Love Story, made into a movie in the late 60s?. The cocktail looks yummy something for Happy Hour on a BHB. The soup is OK, don't care much for potato soup and the wine looks good. Thanks for doing the research for these each day! @dfishI hope your unpacking is going well today! Thanks for the Care and Celebrations list Roy especially doing so when on the way to your Eurodam cruise. Prayers for all on the care list, the people of Ukraine and Lenda I hope your DHs PT goes well. I hoope my DB gets his on a Sunday too. Thanks for the wonderful photos @Mtn2Seaand Sandi. Have a wonderful day! Nancy
  11. Good morning! Usually today would be a day devoted to football but it is also the Breeder's Cup so I will be glued to horse racing all day today. DF John will be in the den watching the Mighty Cruise Ships marathon beginning at noon today. It is a blustery day today but began with a beautiful sunrise before the clouds moved in from the west. An unusual November morning with the temperature at 65 degrees - something to celebrate right there. I love Chinese takeout but like @grapau27our local restaurant is shaky and caused severe GI distress for my late DH decades ago so I haven't been there again. I will call DB later today when someone sends his room phone number, his phone quit working when he went to the hospital I think a cord change may fix it but they haven't figured it out. I will put on in my purse to give it a shot tomorrow if he still has the phone with him. Thanks for the lovely photos of Inverness and thanks for the food and drink! @dfishWelcome to Michigan! @kazu Bon Voyage, I hope you were able to board smoothly. @rafinmdenjoy your train ride to Florida. Prayers for all on our care list and for the people of Ukraine. Today's sunrise in Otsego Michigan. Nancy
  12. Thanks Lenda for the kind words about my DB. He made it to rehab today with no issue other than the long bed we told the case manager was needed was not there when he arrived. He is in a tiny bed. I appreciate your concern with what you are going through with your DH. God Bless!
  13. Happy Friday. Much better news on my DB today. I was there first thing in the morning so I could see him before he is transferred to rehab today. I was there to see his final PT session where she was able to get him to use his walker to go to the bathroom. His bleeding is just seeping now so he is allowed to leave the hospital. He is on heparin to prevent pulmonary embolism so that causes just about any scratch to bleed. He still has a lot of pain and the hospitalist told him until his bone infection clears he will have pain. I just hope it clears soon. @rafinmdhave a good trip to FL on the train and enjoy your time there before boarding the Eurodam. @kazuI hope that your foot is doing somewhat better and I am sorry some of your family had to return home. Prayers for everyone who is dealing with family illness. After a quiet period it sure has picked up. Many thanks for the Daily Fleet and Daily Reports. Thanks for all of the contributions that make this group fun each day! The photos of Mazatlan are wonderful and thanks to all who have shared them. I hope to make it there someday. @dfishSafe travels to Michigan today! I hope you have many happy years in your new home. It is exciting to make a move to a place you want to go to. Have a great Friday!
  14. DB remains in the hospital so they can stanch the bleeding. I hope PT does a good job walking him around today. I will go see him first thing in the morning. No pics of St. Thomas. Somehow my file of photos from 2019 Rotterdam have gotten accidentally moved into another file. Have a good one and thanks for the photos!
  15. Thanks so much! We are changing cabins so we will have it delivered to our GSA cabin. We are in a obstructed view cabin so we probably wouldn't be able to move. DF got a timely casino offer for the NYE portion. See you onboard! Nancy
  16. Did you call to get your luggage pickup scheduled? The paperwork was rather vague allowing us to think they will contact us. Ours are all ready. Many thanks! Nancy
  17. Good morning. I had a nice visit with DB and DSIL yesterday. I made it in time for his PT session if you want to call it that. He sat up in bed and walked a total of 15' around his bed with his walker and then he cried pain and sat back onto the bed. While they were getting him up he started bleeding from his bed sores that he developed after his first surgery in September. He had treatment at the hospital for it and was getting better and then the setback. I cut my visit short to allow him some privacy. He will be moved to a rehab about 10 miles away so he will be closer than the hospital. Last time he was to be released to rehab he had a setback so fingers crossed for a safe trip there today. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. On a happier note, my 97 year old friend Frank has been home for a couple weeks and is trying to give up his use of the cane. All the time climbing in the woods foraging for mushrooms and handball into his late 80s gave him a good base to recover. Today we have a wine dinner at a winery in Fennville MI. When we first visited the place and walked in it looked like a fancy Oregon wine tasting room. All their wines are great too, even reds which is unusual for Michigan. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports and all the great research for the food, wine and cocktails. Prayers for all on our care list. Thanks @RedneckBobfor the story about your rainy day in Saint Thomas. Been there many times and will be back there around New Years on our 7 day pre-GSA cruise on the Volendam. Have a great day!
  18. Thank you so much Melisa! I am heading to see him in a couple hours. Nancy
  19. The last one I did on the NS was the higher priced one and we had a plate with foods that were to pair with the wines. The wine really wasn't discussed and not a mention of pairing with the foods in our plate. Too much time sabering a bottle of champagne. I did meet some very nice people through and we had fun. These events depend on the expertise and communication ability of the head wine person.
  20. Good morning. My DB has stabilized but he is in dreadful shape. Watching him get from the chair to the bed with the help of a nurse and an aide was so hard to see. It took every bit of his strength to stand and do the minimal amount of turning his arms were quivering. He will be in hospital at least through today. His color is better than what I saw on Sunday aided by a pint blood transfusion. I find it malpractice that a surgeon would do surgery on someone who is morbidly obese as my brother is. I just hope that he can recover to the point that he can be chair bound at home sometime. He gets lots of visitors with myself and my 2 sisters and his 2 kids and their spouses. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports. A dark bunch of days I agree. Quote is great. Pass on meal, wine and cocktail but look forward to the photos from our Japan port today. Prayers for all on our care list and for the people of Ukraine.
  21. @smitty34877I hope your husband is back in recovery quickly with good news. @kazuI am praying for you that your foot gets better quickly! @StLouisCruisers and @Quartzsite Cruiser Sandi and Lenda thank you for the wonderful photos of the port in the Shetlands. A place I would love to visit. Thanks for the cute photo of Sadie. We had two trick or treaters last night. First time having trick or treaters since 1994. I have always lived in a quiet area. DB is doing poorly. I thought he would be moved to rehab yesterday but his BP crashed to 39 yesterday. There is a problem with his medications, BP and narcotics were building up in his system. My niece said they gave him Narcan to clear the narcotics quickly. Sounds like some kind of kidney issue to me since it is unusual for those drugs to build up. Oh and he is bleeding again. I hope to hear from DSIL that we can visit him today. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports Rich and thanks for the Cares and Celebration reports Roy. Today's Rose' Coq a Vin is a great idea, it is more visually pleasing. I may try it but we have no Rose in the house right now. The cocktail looks good and today's wine would be perfect for today's menu. Thanks for all of these! Prayers for all needing them and for the people of Ukraine. Nancy
  22. Jacqui I am so sorry about your ankle. You truly need to catch a break and I do not mean a broken foot. Prayers that the pain goes away. 🙏
  23. @Lady Hudson Hopefully they can get your husband in quickly and you can proceed on your planned cruise. Happy Monday and Happy Halloween! It is rainy and foggy but it will be warm for the trick or treaters. We have had great unseasonably warm weather. We don't carve pumpkins and I didn't even buy one or gourds this year. We have all of our fall decor out in the house though. I was a Girl Scout and was one through grade 5. I think that the founder was Juliet Lowe but I am not going to look it up so that is my trivia answer for the day right or wrong. @dfishI hope you are getting settled in Michigan and your wifi is on tomorrow. Thanks for the wine reviews for us daily @summer slope! Today's looks good. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports! I love the Gandhi quote. No word on my brother for today if he remains in the hospital for another day or goes to rehab. My project today is contacting my rheumatologist to get a letter that I should not get a Yellow Fever vaccination and I hear John working on his now. Prayers for all on our care list and for the people in Ukraine where many are living with no water and power. Have a great Halloween!!
