  1. You can either of those. I usually park offsite and save the money if I’m going to have to take a shuttle anyway
  2. I think they may have had them as an additional item. I didn’t have dessert so I’m not certain but I think I saw them on someone’s table
  3. Your travel summary will show the number of formal nights. You can see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise.
  4. There was an additional starter offered on the printed menu in the MDR tonight - Country Pate. I had it and thought it was very good
  5. Food quality across all lines is not what it was 20 years ago. From my experiences in the last year and a half though, Princess has actually improved since before the pandemic. The difference between them and Celebrity isn’t anywhere near as big as it used to br
  6. Here is today’s menu on my cruise
  7. You can start uploading documents, photos, etc right away in the Medallion app. You can also make dinner reservations. You will need to use the app to request that the medallions be shipped to you. If you don’t request shipping they will have them at the port. ((Not everyone wants them shipped) Medallions are usually shipped about 2 weeks before embarkation. Selecting a boarding time is usually available 45 - 30 days ahead of time.
  8. I’ll be interested to hear your report!
  9. It’s always possible that you can book late and get a low price but it’s also possible that you’ll find higher prices or no availability. For people who can be very flexible, Drop and Go fares can be a terrific deal but if it means booking last minute airfare it can be tough to find that at a bargain price as well.
  10. Without trays there is no easy way to serve yourself everything and carry it to a table at once for many people. I usually put drinks down first, then get food.
  11. I think it is possible in the future. I’m not sure when, but I definitely think it could happen. It wasn’t that long ago that we wouldn’t have been able to imagine going through customs at the end of a cruise using facial recognition instead of showing a passport.
  12. I’m not sure how you came up with the estimate that 5X as many passengers will pick up medallions now that shipping is not free. Are you only considering cruises from ports in the US? What percentage of passengers do you think pick them up now? For passengers who are US residents, what percentage do you think have packages that will include free shipping? For sailings from US ports that may be a pretty significant number
  13. As has been mentioned several times, you can request traditional Caesar
  14. Not sure when you will be going but whale watching would be my first choice if it’s the right season. We have also done a tour that combined a catamaran sail to see the arches with a land tour to San Jose del Cabo that we really enjoyed
  15. I cannot imagine that anyone could eat two of those every day. It reminds me of the over the top Bloody Mary’s that have a whole chicken as a garnish
  16. For those who are interested here is our menu for tonight
  17. I remember my first cruise in 1982 on the Carnival Mardi Gras. It was 7 nights in a cabin with a tiny porthole and no electric outlets in the cabin at all. There were though fabulous midnight buffets, terrific food, and lots of entertainment. Everyone dressed up every night. The cost was $1250 per person, which would be $3,950 per person in today’s dollars. A similar cruise today on Princess is under $1,000 per person. I feel like cruising and airline travel have both become much cheaper but much less “glamorous” over time.
  18. On my cruise in 2019 it was only salmon and hamburgers. The menu and the food were both pretty bad on that cruise but it may not have been typical. I was willing to give Princess another try. My experience on cruises after the restart have been much better.
  19. Yes. I think chicken and salmon are much more appealing choices for dinner than a hamburger so I see it as an improvement.
  20. I think so. Even though it’s not as much as it used to be, you still see more. For me, it’s the better choice.
  21. My last cruise before COVID was Norway and Iceland on Princess and it had menus very similar to what I’ve seen since the restart. I remember being pretty surprised that the Princess Favorites section of the menu offered a hamburger every night as opposed to the steak offered nightly by Celebrity. I think changes started well before the pandemic
  22. I agree that the food was better on cruise ships in the 80’s and 90’s but cruising was also much more expensive than it is today. I suspect that if we were all willing to pay more, we would get more.
