  1. I just checked in for my July 22 cruise. I have a suite and an adjoining balcony. The suites have early check in but the balcony does not. However, I was able to check us all in early with the suites since the rooms were booked together. In the past, I have not been able to do this and we got different appointment times. I am not sure if this is something "new" that carnival has done or if previously my rooms weren't somehow joined in the system, but I was glad to see this is now the case. I thought I would advise anyone under the same circumstances with either a suite or Platinum/Diamond that when you have two rooms like this all on the same booking or the bookings are joined that you can apparently check them all in early now even if one is not suite/plat/diamond.
  2. I bought some a few weeks ago (but within about the past month or two) and I think they expire in October.
  3. Well, my options for a direct flight are British Airways or United and I have had far worse experiences on United.
  4. FWIW, my flight from LHR to IAH has been canceled twice already and I am a month out from it... My sister-in-law recently spent 5 days in DFW airport with 3 kids aged 8 and under. They would give her a hotel for the night but then she had to repack, check out and go back to the airport each day to "wait to see" if she would get a flight out. She was by herself with the three kids. The youngest is still a toddler and a complete handful. She was flying from San Antonio to DFW to Colombia. I would have rented a car and driven back to San Antonio after 2-3 days of that nonsense.
  5. The people who have businesses and/or have to get back to work?
  6. So, the useful point I have taken away from this thread is that my family and I better fly with only carry ons only to London Heathrow. Or, at least, not put much in our checked luggage. If we weren't going to be un the UK for three weeks, I would be flying with carry on only.
  7. Oh no! I have been so excited to go on my Pride sailing in less than 2 weeks for so long. Some of these things I can understand, but (for example) the cracked glass is unacceptable and a safety hazard. It could shatter and hurt someone! FWIW, you are not the first poster who has complained about the state of Pride.
  8. I think that Cucina and Chef's table are coming back July 31. 1. I read that. 2. My July 22-31 cruise does not offer either.
  9. 1. The Havana area on the Vista Class Ships 2. The aft corner Excel suites on the Mardi Gras with its own private jacuzzi and the biggest balcony EVER. 3. The NON-smoking casinos on the ships that have those 4. Guy's Burgers 5. Red Frog Pub (especially when they have a happy hour) 6. The Brass Magnolia on the Mardi Gras 7. The Fortune Teller Bar on the Mardi Gras 8. The Shake spot or bar that has spiked coffees
  10. In Seattle, we had a suite so were supposed to be priority and there was not really anything until the very end and by then there was no wait at the regular lines anyway because security was so backed up. So, getting the earliest boarding time and getting there early was the only way to get on the ship first. In Port Canaveral, they did have a special waiting area for suites, but not Platinum/Diamond and suites were allowed to board first. I have been on two cruises since the restart out of Galveston and for the life of me I can't really recall...I *THOUGHT* they left diamond/plat board after suites but I may literally be recalling a time we boarded before covid. We have cruised out of Galveston so many times that they run together on me.
  11. Thanks for posting! Mine didn't show up on my Chase Sapphire, but did on my Chase United Card. (I have ALLLL the travel reward credit cards, lol.)
  12. @awhitleycrew I have always had pretty good experiences at Galveston with boarding, too, and never had to wait a ridiculous amount of time.
  13. I can confirm this is true because I was billed for a Covid test EVEN THOUGH I TESTED POSITIVE because I answered I was not having symptoms. (I tested because my husband was positive.)
  14. Are you wanting fiction or non-fiction? You could do something about Mary, Queen of Scots for Scotland. Margaret George or Phillipa Gregory have good fiction. Alison Weir for non-fiction. Margaret George is one of my favorite authors. Anything about the Clans is really interesting, too. Or, of course, Braveheart...even though it is loosely based on history...I mean, the French Princess (wife of Edward II) he had an affair with was not even living in the UK when he was executed and was still a child so no way he had an affair with her. "Outlander" is another one...both the series and the books. For Paris, there is sooo much...Sabrina comes to mind. The original or the 90s version. Anything on any of the French monarchs, the Templars, etc. There is so, so much. I am working on my MSc in History and my main area of interest in late medieval so the Plantagenets, Richard III, Henry VII, the Wars of the Roses, etc. is all very fascinating to me, but they are based out of London and England. Winchester, the Tower in London, Westminster Abbey, etc. are your best bets there. I am assuming you are sailing from Southampton or Dover. Oooh...Henry II and Eleanor of Acquitaine would also be good for Paris and France. The Lion in Winter (old movie) and Alison Weir's book on Eleanor are amazing. Also, anything on Richard I. The Angevins actually had their castles, etc. in France and not England even though they were the technically Kings of England.
  15. I booked a 10 am flight for Seattle with a ship arrival time at 7 am. We were off the ship by 6:50. We were at the airport by 7:30. Every Carnival cruise I have taken lately, has come in early. Only time I have been late on CCL was out of Galveston due to fog and we were like 14 hours late so it wouldn't have mattered when your flight was...most missed them if they were the same day. From what I have been hearing about Pride, everyone has to be out of their rooms by 6:15. They rush everyone off the ship because they have to leave out before the ferrys start running. Someone posted that their 6:30 am carnival bus left at 6:13 am. No clue how long it will take to get to where you are going, but I would think a car at 6:30 would be fine. If anything, you may be waiting on them. I have no clue how far it is to that airport as I have always flown in/out of LHR because it is the only direct flight to/from Houston.
  16. I have no interest in the brewery, but I am a HUGE history buff. Currently working on my MSC in History.
  17. Wait...do we need a converter in the UK? I have been to UK and don't recall needing a converter. But, then again, I don't really have anything I plug in other than my phone.
  18. I just sailed on her. I wasn't being snarky. I was just letting you know since you missed it. 🙂
  19. And the Alaska Splendor sailing was my favorite sailing that I have been on.
  20. There are no excursions offered by the ship for Dublin. Further, it will be on my birthday. What do you recommend to do?
  21. Anyone here done the UK sailing before on the pride? What did yall do in Dublin? There are no excursions on the Carnival website and I am 24 days out from cruise.
  22. I didn't take a pictures of it, but my 8 and 9 year old boys found it hilarious. This blog talks about it: "Americans are not so comfortable with nudity and on some ships Carnival has removed nude décor. The strangest piece of artwork among all the odd things that we found on the Splendor was a painting in an elevator which we dubbed “Naked Toilet Man.” It’s painted in mosaic style and many people in the elevator don’t notice what it actually is, but if you stand outside the elevator and look in it becomes much more obvious. It would be a shame if they removed it though because it was a good source of amusement – for us anyway. (We’re easily amused.)" https://mycruisestories.com/2015/08/13/cruise-ship-decor-on-carnival-splendor/ As an aside, I thought it was very easy to see it was a dude on a toilet. There were many giggles from my children over this and much head scratching from the adults.
