Now if every passenger ticked yes what fun. Do you know a good hacker
-
Thank you don't know how I missed it. I note he studiously avoided questions and answers about pre cruise :- covid , covid symptoms or covid contacts.
-
I presume P&O are covering backside so they can say no one boards who has any covid symptoms. They expected everyone just to say NO to every question. I bet they are surprised that anyone ticks yes.

How do you find Q&A with Adam Edinburgh on P&O web site

Where do you get best signal on QM2

A clock , watch , phone displaying time is nonsense, you can set it to any time. They should either revert to supervised tests , e.g. video , or give up. The testing regime has so many holes, coupled with the fact that insurance companies will not take unsupervised test as proof so won't pay up, and you can't get a supervised PCR which insurance companies require if you admit to a positive LFT. This simply encourages people to not test and lie. If a precruise test is important the £20 for a supervised test is nothing and Cunard should go back to mandatory tests day before.

Once again Respose to P&O is covered by the song. Silence is golden. Covid has so many symptoms that could be any other mild disease, say no to every thing.

Notes from Queen Victoria to the Mediterranean (& back)
Windsurfboy replied to Host Hattie's topic in Cunard Line
HH your rant is 110% justified. 4 negative tests you must be much safer than the many people wandering round ship ignoring slight sniffle or sore throat. Glad you can go ashore and have some sort of normal time. Sad it's on your own. Must praise Mr HH's honesty in going forward for a test given only mild symptoms. However to be honest given what I've read of what happens , I'm not sure I'd get tested and ruin my holiday. Just take sensible precautions as for a cold to avoid others . -
On a ship 95% of time indoors is spent sitting down at meals , coffee , bar etc , when you don't have to mask up. Masking up for rest is worse than pointless as it gives a false sense of security
-
Agree , clearly unless you are very ill , they want and expect you to ignore it. You will most probably lose money or miss half holiday otherwise.
-
As a comparison Saga has nearly 20% single (all with balconies) cabins which are 80% of the size of their standard 2 person balcony cabins, for a 55% supplement. I understand they sell out first. Showing demand for singles. So there is a market if Cunard want it.

Looks like fees have gone up
-
Small claims court (mcol , make claim online) has a fixed maximum fee of £100, refunded on winning. Simple no need for lawyers . The max claim is £10000 but should cover most cases. Seems way to go if you loose money by Cunard change of T&Cs after you book
-
£300in total , as Kyle said "I should be so lucky", go for it.
-
The key is to check wave heights on internet or ask Cunard every night, and take whatever medicine BEFORE you hit bad weather and feel sick
-
Clearly a short sighted policy, encouraging people not to be tested or admit to covid.

All the people that run the behind the scenes tour are employed by the ship and already paid for by everyone as part of the cruise. The definition of service used to be you were only charged for things that cost the company extra money , out of the ordinary like showing you behind the scenes is included in good service. The logic of the commercial machine , gives rise to Ryanair, where you pay for everything. There is no concept of service just sales. So if you believe in a commercial enterprise soley maximising profit , rather than making profit by maximising service this is where Cunard ends up. The cafe space franchised to Starbucks and Costa. You carry your own luggage on board or pay extra . .... Nothing against the Ryanair model, you know what you are getting and they don't pretend otherwise. But Cunard presents itself as a full service line , not the Ryanair of the seas.
-
Under that logic, I.e. of charging for everything they can think of , then for example there would be no objection to Cunard charging for Porters to carry your luggage on board. Or turning all the lounges in to pay cafes, where like any commercial enterprise you are expected to buy something if you sit down.

Majortom, I think we agree that it's indicative of a change, what many on the dress code threads bemoan as a Carnivalisation of Cunard. I wasn't arguing it wasn't a very interesting tour, or in some way value for money compared to other things. Yes they could even charge more. However in my old fashioned mind , one might have thought they would be PROUD TO SHOW PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES. Perhaps charging a nominal amount to control numbers. But clearly everything is about making that extra $.

The job of all the people mentioned is to look after passengers , they are being paid anyway. I just remember days when things like this were all part of the service. Nowadays everything is seen as an opportunity to extract a few pennies. Some people long for the old days when everyone wore a jacket and tie. I on the other hand miss the days when everything wasn't a revenue opportunity.
