  1. Have you ever watched the documentary "Neat"? It's a fascinating documentary about bourbon and whiskey, it's history and it's growing popularity. Really good.
  2. I wish I had the pictures to prove it, but in the mid 70's I had a Ford van that I had customized. Remember when customizing vans was a big thing? Now mainly it was to haul my drums around to gigs but it had orange and brown shag carpeting on the floor and walls. A raised bed in the back with orange plush velvet, wood paneled ceiling with airplane lights. Speakers in the front of the raised bed and swivel captain chairs. I always got kidded about it as people would say "if the vans a rockin' don't bother come knockin' " Oh how I loved the 70's.
  3. No need to apologize. I thought it was hilarious. You and I are good. With all my talk about cocktails and bourbon on here one might wonder is he a lush or alcoholic? Rest assured I'm a responsible social drinker who mainly drinks on the weekends except for on a cruise where I do drink everyday. Most people who drink with me say that I'm happy after a few. I don't get mean or obnoxious. I'm pretty chill with a good cocktail. Speaking of Wild Turkey, The Wild Turkey Rare Breed is one great bottle of bourbon. It has a high ABV but is really tasty neat or on the rocks.
  4. Out of KC Southwest is really our best option. We always book the earliest flight we can to avoid any cancellations.. I think you would like The SW Card. It's paying most of flights off of points for our next cruise. And our last cruise in November points paid for Linda's flight. We've saved hundreds of dollars. I know what you mean on your 401K's. We've taken a beating this past year. Our financial advisor keeps saying stay the course we will be ok. It helped yesterday as we made over 10K.
  5. Welcome to the club. I had my knee replaced this past February. So I'm at 5 months and I'm doing good but wish my healing would progress a little faster. Still numb and swollen on one side. Still have some pain at times but not bad. I am exercising the heck out of it so that could be some of it. Stick to your rehab religiously. We just retired last November too. We love it. We pretty much try to live on our social security and pensions and use our 401K's for emergencies and our cruise habit. We have 4 scheduled in the next year but will probably average about two a year. We use a Southwest/Chase card for all our travel and hotel. We got points right out of the gate and we have traveled so much that all of our airline tickets are paid for this next cruise in September. We also have signed up at various hotel loyalty programs too. Mainly Hilton and Embassy Suites but the points are not that much. The Southwest Card makes a huge difference for us. Welcome to retirement. I've never looked back.
  6. If you search the internet for Royal Caribbean Drink Menu 2022, there are several sites that I can't list here that has some of the menus. Keep in mind every ship and every bar is different and there has been some supply issues regarding certain types of alcohol on some ships.. Don't let the menu be your guide. Most of the bartenders can make anything for you. There are tons of drinks that aren't on the menu.
  7. I think that's a good position to be in. Cheers! Though all of us are different and live all over the world we are all really the same.
  8. Wild Turkey (Sea Dog, not the kind you are drinking about) Thanks for clarifying Sue I started to get confused.😜 Actually all of those on the list are seen in my backyard. We don't see as many turkey's since we built the house. Funny we have a turtle that get's into the fenced in portion of the back yard and when the dogs see it they go nuts. I have picked up this turtle and moved him to another portion of the back yard more than 6 times and he keeps coming back. I still can't figure how he gets in between the slates of the fence Also he have a whole family of chipmunks that are tearing up our Hosta garden. Not sure what to do. They are cute but they are making holes and tunnels all over.
  9. That's our pups. The chef should be a line cook at Denny's Welcome. This is a group that loves one another and we discuss our daily lives without judgement, ego, or meanness.
  10. Happy that your mom is better. Tell her she looks great. Nice looking rib-eye. Very tasty I bet. Wow nice ring. Congrats to Owen. Wish it would storm here.
  11. I sure everything gets better by the time I cruise on Symphony in September. With the DDP I will be not happy if they can't make some of my favorite cocktails. We are paying a pretty good amount of money to have those drinks. Stock up Royal. Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I knew you would make the right decision in your heart. Looks wonderful. Thanks for the recipe. I'll have to make this.
  12. Wait till you get home and can unwind and reflect. Enjoy Italy now.
  13. That's not good. Aperol should be a staple in any bar. Must have for Aperol Spritz and Royal's Passion Spritz.
  14. The mosquitoes here are huge. And for some reason they love me. Linda and I have talked about getting a screened in porch just for that reason. As nice as our patio is I don't think we will be using it this week. Temps are ridiculously hot. Are you doing anything special excursion wise in Roatan?
  15. I will be anxious to hear how this works out. I hope you are able to do it. Please keep us updated.
  16. I'm sensitive to those bites so I know how you are feeling. We've tried just about everything else too. One thing that seems to work is a high powered fan. Mosquitos can't fly in heavy wind. The fan keeps them away from plus giving you a nice breeze.
  17. And I would think especially on Symphony. I've also heard of some people trying that and it working and some others not, that certain ships were not letting people do that. So much for term "Unlimited."
  18. One cruise we decided we wanted to do the Atlantis Submarine but when we went to the excursion desk they said it was sold out. When we got to port we saw Atlantis Submarine office and inquired about going on it. We ended up going on the submarine earlier than our excursion and even cheaper.
  19. Ok let's try this idea, What if you had reservations at Izzumi at 6pm had your prefix dinner and on the way out made another reservation for a couple of hours later and had just some rolls using your UDP? Not saying I would do that but just testing a hypothetical.
  20. That's what I tried to do with Hulu. I went 4 months after cancelling then found a show I wanted to watch. Went back to restart my subscription and found out they never did cancel it. My fault for not checking my auto withdrawls but it would have been nice for them to cancel when I asked them to.
  21. Hang in there. It takes time but you will get there. I relied on the happy pills for sleep at night too. Doc said do what you need to do to get a good nights sleep. Your body needs it.
  22. That's the question that I want answered too. John mentioned in another thread that he ate at Hibachi for a $10 surcharge and then went back later for sushi rolls with the UDP.
