It’s first formal night, and we thought we could get out of it by reserving at the Catch. But no, the Concierge said that formal also applies in the Specialty restaurants. We hate Buffett for dinner so dress up for us🥴……

PLEASE come back and let us know apx % actually have formal attire on

On the ship right now, first seas day for me. So Yes at this time there do have musicians placed across the ship. So that is nice.

    Thank you!! I'm boarding 9/23/24.

We have not yet sailed on the Sun.  We will be on her for 14 days over Halloween and another 14 days in January.  We also have 14 booked on the Star in November of 2025 and another 14 in February of 2026.

Yeah .... with all the rav impressions I'm waiting on booking more than 1 until I see for myself before leaving Royal Class ships.

Hoping it lives up to our expectations and the angst posted is just PCL adjustment pains. Not too happy about needing a ticket for performances but we shall see how that plays our

Sounds nice. Concierge lounge on Royal Class is a bit of an upscale compared to earlier ships. We quite enjoyed that addition to Princess' usual suite privileges. It would be nice to have a concierge lounge retrofitted into the earlier ships, and a must for our new Princess ship too.

I thought sphere class has that ... saw it on the Royal Princess and despite being a little small, looked nice.

    Dedicated Platinum and Elite Lounge.

There are now so many Elites that JMHO the 'new lounge' should be for just them. Otherwise it needs to be as large as Vista Lounge (which is where the P-E lounge was each night and yes, it filled up)

@Ombud The only two ships in the fleet that are Panamax built are Coral and Island.  They are narrow enough to go through the Historic Locks.  "unTechnically", they have only one inside cabin per deck (instead of the back to back on the larger ships).

I've been thinking about going on the Island. I've heard the buffet is in the front with wrap around windows. Should find a food plan and check it out ✔

Princess currently has 4 classes of ships:

    Panamax(?)

    Grand/GEM

    Royal

    [Sun] Sphere

Which Princess ships are Panamax layout?

    My suggestions:

    > Photo Gallery: change display method. Ppl should use their medallion to locate all their photos on a single large display screen & request there thereby freeing up space

    > Art Gallery: minimize. Provide another large display screen to be able to search by artist & 'reserve / request' there if desired thereby freeing up space (I won't but hey obviously some do)

    > all extra space to any bar ... don't really care which ..... or if another sphere class ship, PUT IC BACK

The only thing Princess needs is a new IT Dept (I know the current one can't do have that but they could)

  6. I discovered the buffet on a cruise with Runmotor.  So yeah, I get healthy salads, nuts, tons of raw veggies, fresh fruit. The bread doesn't have as much flavor as the bakeries at home (SF Delta) so I just skip that. So, yes, the salads and snacks are as healthy as I make them

Was that a repositioning cruise? Then it's pretty normal.

    OZ to Japan I guess.

Yes. They posted that we'd have Secret Silk but didn't.

FWIW Trans-Atlantics are also 'repositioning' from Europe to Caribbean (or visa versa) and in November 2023 I had:20231204_015505.thumb.jpg.0a991e216f72d62e3104870c0fa374c3.jpg

Sorry I don't have a screenshot of my 2022 Trans-Atlantic repositioning cruise but I saw shows on it. So not all repositioning (Trans-Atlantic or Trans-Pacific) cruises omit Broadway type shows.

Anyway I hope your right & my Sun Princess repositioning (Trans-Atlantic) cruise in September has them

  8. I didn't have any on my 4/6/24-4/27/24 Royal Princess voyage. Just Encore as a variety show, another variety show,  2 entertainers doing a solo song performance, comedians, a couple with hula hoops (yes, hula hoops), and musicians.

OTOH many shows were reduced to 30 minutes so they could fit in 3 shows a night.

We cancelled a Alaska cruise from San Francisco  because there were no Primcess people that could help us .

Why not fly to SFO take an uber to the port OR fly to SFO and use the Princess shuttle to the pier like everyone else? Princess actually even has ppl that will help you board the shuttle & escort you through any of their ports ..... SF included. It's no different than any other city. IE: Fort Lauderdale / NYC / New Orleans ....

Wonder why I don't pay? (Actually my 17" works fine for anything under 10 days. Over that I really do prefer my 22")

Do you have a United credit card or high status with United? If I am asked to pay, I'm hoping to do so with miles. I'm just not sure about the codeshare flight on Air Canada

No just a USAA card .... maybe status??

Are all those flights for just 1 trip??

    Maui -> LV -> CA -> Florida

    Montreal ->Denver -> Maui?

I book United on EZAIR all the time & I've never had a problem getting free bag checked or selecting my seat once I enter my mileage # on the Princess website.

Also prefer UAL bc the upgrade from economy to economy plus is more reasonable

Surprisingly, upgrading from United Economy to Economy Plus doesn't include a free bag. I'm counting on my United Credit Card for that.

In June, I will fly from Maui to Las Vegas; LV to California; California to Florida; Montreal to Denver; and Denver to Maui. I would hate to have to pay a bag fee on every flight.

I think I will only have to pay it on the first flight (Hawaiian) because I don't have their credit card.

Wonder why I don't pay? (Actually my 17" works fine for anything under 10 days. Over that I really do prefer my 22")

A poster on the AUS/NZ boards has said that Princess is promising them a similar itinerary on a replacement ship - details to be revealed by the end of the month. Hope it works out for all concerned.

I had my September 2020 Aussie cruise redeployed several times. Each time the voyage was a day or two longer but price / ezair / perks price protected.  Wound up with a 21 day cruise at an awesome price

it’s past time for her to move on ..

Agreed .... besides Discovery, which grand class ship do you think will replace Grand Princess downunder??

Crown .... isn't that the ship with repeated engine issues??

    FWIW,

My former CVP attempted the hard sale of this on me a few months ago.  He is no longer my CVP.

So watch out for this even from your CVPs.

    Expand

My CVP laughs when the conversation goes to “promotions”. Most think it was a bad idea

just got a call from the CVP line & someone telling me to contact them before booking my next cruise instead of my CVP. And she knew my cruise history + the pending 4 cruises + my unused 2 FCDs. 1st call went to voice mail so I emailed my CVP asking if she was going ...  kinda weird since she just cleared up an issue with my next cruise. 2nd call from "P***" where she ID'd herself as Princess Promotions. Doesn't fit my need as I have no issue getting reasonable-to-me accommodations. But a little irritated with the call.

So if someone isn't on cruise critic they might erroneously think Princess Promotion employees are Princess not O.N.E. employees because they use the CVP main phone number + their extension #

    Sounds like a timeshare.

That's so not true. The PVP that I use told me that he could "protect" the cabin that I chose, cancel and rebook for a lower price or to use a newly purchased Future Cruise Deposit.

All I'm doing is repeating what the PVP told me. She told me she has either to book it or to deposit it to have it assigned to her, and she said she couldn't work the booking if it wasn't assigned to her.

It appears that different PVPs are giving different answers to the same question. Inconsistent answers from Princess. What a surprise🙂

Replace couldn't with won't work bookings they don't get credit for. Not at all a surprise that some don't want to work when they don't get credit
