I've been elite for many years. The one thing I valued the most was the free Internet (but that's gone.) The free laundry was the next best thing, but I will not be surprised to see that disappear in the future. Enjoy your new status.
I was right there with you on this subject when this happened to you, CineGraphic. I was as devoted a Princess cruiser as there was (31 cruises) but after the pause, Princess became a different line. Our friend the apologist here is welcome to his rose-colored glasses, but there are more than a few of us who decided to move on from Princess after what a certain executive did to a once classy operation.
I had heard Planks and Steamers were gone. Oh well, rumors go around. This new scheme for casual dining is another annoying thing about Princess that sent me elsewhere (after 31 cruises). So does this mean even Alfredo's is a reservations/charge restaurant now?
That is true, and I was sad on that cruise. We have been doing HAL for the last couple of years, where they serve you at the buffet, and I must say, I really prefer it. It's not any slower, IMO. I'm glad Princess is going that route on the Sun.
One hopes, but I'm sure there will still be confusion about which dining room is which and who belongs where. After the dust settles on this new scheme, I might come back to see how I like it.
In Maine, I don't know, but in New Zealand, they have dogs that sniff and people go to jail for sneaking food in. Chili has dogs and soldiers with big guns. The best thing to do is check with the local port authority and if they say no, decide whether you want to risk it or not.
