  1. @0106 sorry about not remembering if it is you who asked the question. The issue is going from one part of the huge delta terminal to the other part. JFK only has busses and the wait can be as long as 20 minutes for this bus to get you between terminals. Some domestic flights on delta leave from the same terminal as where the international flights come in but no guarantee of this. It is crazy how airlines give you connections that are barely doable. I haven’t read the daily. Exhausted from a long travel day. I hope everyone is okay.
  2. Okay having now done a connection to delta at jfk no way you can make a domestic flight from international arrival in one hour. International flights come into delta terminal b you then need to collect your luggage go through customs and then tsa and then either walk over one mile or take the bus to terminal a. We did it without going through customs or tsa with wheelchair priority and it took about 1 hour. I hope everyone is doing okay and thank you for the daily.
  3. @Cruzin Terri I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon.
  4. @0106 Interesting I tried to find the answer to that re having to go through TSA again and I couldn't find it. In some responses they said no if you are in the same terminal - which you should be since you are the Delta terminal for both flights - but I would call Delta and ask this question. My guess is no - you get your luggage go through customs and then put them on the conveyor for your next flight and since you never 'go out' of the terminal you don't have to go back through TSA. @Cruzin Terri I do hope you feel better soon but when I had Covid this year my doctor told me not to bother testing again since the test can remain positive for weeks after you have an infection. She told me you go by symptoms - so once they are gone and you feel better - cough, runny nose, fever etc gone (not tiredness) you can go back to doing things after 5 more days. The CDC now gives an even shorter time frame - 1 day- and just suggests you wear a mask for the 5 days if you go out and around people in a closed environment. I was tired for about 1 month after I had Covid - I do hope you get better quicker than I did. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Thank you all for the daily.
  5. Re your flights - Delta now has its own terminal at JFK and from what I see on the internet your connecting flight is also at terminal 4. We have flown from/to JFK for most of our international trips. Delta at JFK has automated passport control which is quicker than regular entry. Assuming your plane is on time and you get your luggage quickly you should be okay but given what is going on with flights now the 'on time' arrival may be questionable. Sorry to hear that so many of you are not feeling well - I do hope for quick recoveries for everyone. @durangoscotsHappy Birthday. We are getting ready to leave for our Norway and then transatlantic cruise where hopefully I can get to meet @StLouisCruisers - Sandy. I can't believe how cold it will be but to be honest I hate the Fl heat so for me it will be fine.
  6. Just google Elliott advocacy . I can’t post a link on cruise critic.
  7. We had an issue that was not resolved by the HAL telephone staff and I contacted corporate by email using the email contacts listed on the Elliott site. I got a response and a satisfactory resolution. I strongly suggest that you do this prior to boarding the ship.
  8. Corporate contacts are available on the elliott advocacy web site- I would send an email to all of them with your concerns and the resolution that you want for the removal of CO.
  9. @ger_77 Think of you and your DH procedure. I hope all goes well today. @kazu - Jacqui how horrible about Ivan. I hope that action is taken against the owner. @JazzyV Vanessa I hope your BFF gets released today and you got some rest last night after what was an exhausting day. Terri it sounds like you are feeling better today. Terry - I do love watching the crews work. I hope your street gets done quickly and you get some relief with your responsibilities. I hope the teenager and his GF have a great time at prom. Sandy - I hope you feel better soon since you have a long day tomorrow. It sounds like a great excursion. I hope everyone has a great day. Thank you to all who post in the daily.
  10. I am back from doctor visit, all is fine. My shoulder is giving some grief but the heating pad and advil seem to work. I am putting off getting more injections since I can't have them too often and it is not that bad yet. It is still pretty hot out and of course our a/c has decided to die. We ordered a new unit, and now have a temporary fix which are hoping holds out until we get our new unit. I guess there went booking another cruise for us. I hope everyone's surgeries and procedures go well and those post op are doing great. Gerry I hope that Maurice gets approved to have the surgery tomorrow. Jacqui I do hope your foot gets better soon. These types of infections are horrible. Penney you never cease to amaze me. I don't know how you are doing all you do right after complicated back surgery. Vanessa I hope your BFF surgery went well today and you get to go back to his house and take a nap. @RMLincolnI am sorry you can't cruise but if you like classical music there may still be some tickets for Tanglewood available. It runs all summer and it is an easy drive for you if you head up to I 84 and go right across into the Berkshires. They have a variety of performances and loads to do in that area and it is not far from your grandkids so you can add in a visit as well :). Just an idea. We are actually doing this next summer - we rented a home and will get some concert tickets and be out of the FL heat. We just have to decide if we are going for one or two weeks, in addition to visiting all our kids and grandkids in the NE. Not much on the agenda for today for the rest of the day. My work slows down when schools are closed and we only have 2 more weeks to go here in FL. It will be a much needed rest and I won't feel guilty being away for a good bit of this summer. Terry - I do hope you feel better soon. I am sorry that so much rests on your shoulders. It is hard being the only one to do everything plus have all the responsibility for your DH as well. I hope today you feel a bit better and get some rest. Sending best wishes to everyone who posts here and reads the daily.
  11. Hello to all and congratulations to all those celebrating and "oh no' to those with medical issues. @rafinmdnot a political post but they are called Israeli compression bandages which stop bleeding very quickly. They are available at most drug stores and at the big "A' online store. They were developed to use on the battle field to stop bleeding and work very quickly and much better than regular bandages. We always have some on hand in case we cut ourselves, so we can stop the bleeding quickly. For the history of the day a very good read is called The Moors Tale. It is based on this expedition and a journal written by one of the survivors of this expedition, who made it back. The survivor was a Moor who was a slave to one of the expedition leaders, - hence the Moors Tale. It is a fascinating story and incredible how far this excursion actually traveled in what became the U.S. Thank heavens all is well with us - just very very very hot in South Florida. We will be glad to go on our European cruises and finally meet Sandy on the long one back to Boston.
  12. Can you post to let me know since we would cancel this cruise if a large group was on board - we had that once on a Celebrity cruise and I do not want to do that again.
  13. We booked the same cruise - as a back up if we don't do our South America cruise - were you told that a large group will be on this one?
  14. We love the deck 4 cabins with the larger balconies above the dining room. We heard a wine selling event during the day, where the speaker was using a very loud microphone. It lasted about 1/2 hour. Other than that we heard no noise at all from the dining room area. We booked deck 4 again because I loved having a chaise on my own veranda. (You have to get permission but our room steward's supervisor approved it for us and it was delivered to our balcony.)
  15. Wonderful to see all the people celebrating good things, birthdays, anniversaries and cruises. @JazzyV - Vanessa good luck tomorrow. I hope the surgery relieves your pain. Sending you healing thoughts! I am glad you got your home prepared since climbing stairs I think will be hard the first few days post op. Hopefully Medicare will pay for the PT and a nurse to come to your home. I found that very helpful after my back surgery. Weather here is turning warm -too warm for my liking but that is South Florida. Not much on the agenda for today. I am reading the book The Women about nurses in Vietnam, by Kristin Hannah. It is very well written and I will probably end up finishing it today.
  16. Wow we booked this cruise and I didn't even think to look for a transfer so far in advance. Oh well. I guess I will join you on the waitlist for the transfer to the port.
  17. @JazzyV good luck with your surgery. So glad it was approved. @smitty34877 so sorry to hear about another sleepless night for you. I hope tonight you get some relief. @luvteaching I hope the service and luncheon go well today for you and your family. Not much on the agenda for today. It is getting warmer but still bearable outside. I hope everyone has a good day and Jacqui @kazu safe travels today. I am so glad you were able to make the cruise.
  18. @kazu Jacqui so sorry to hear about your foot/leg pain. I hope the doctor can do something for you so that you can go on your cruise. @superomaCongratulations on the new arrival. I am so glad the hospital is letting the Mom stay with the baby. @marshhawkand @kochleffel Please take care of yourselves - no more falls please. I hope everyone else is doing okay. Thank you to all who post in the daily. I enjoyed re visiting the port - we have been there a couple of times, once on a cruise and the last time on a land trip. I have no pictures since my DH is the photographer and they are all on his computer. One set of my grandparents and my grandfather came in through Ellis Island. My two grandparents came from a town called Monastir now Bitola, in North Macedonia. These grandparents during the anniversary of Ellis Island bought bricks so their names are inscribed on the wall there with the dates of their arrival. It was fun to see this when we visited. My other grandfather came in as an "illegal", he took the name of someone he was traveling with, not his real last name. He therefore had a different last name from all of his siblings. He came from Russia-Poland-Ukraine - we are not sure where exactly but his ship came from Germany to the USA. His first job was as a steelworker near Pittsburgh, PA. We have no idea how he got there and how he ended up back in NY. Wishing everyone a good day.
  19. There is a July 13th cruise out of Seattle but it doesn't include Glacier Bay. I do feel for you in this situation.
  20. We were on a cruise with a large group like this and I would never do it again. We also were not told about it. It was a Celebrity cruise. If at all possible I would contact corporate and ask for a different ship/ sailing. It does really impact your cruise.
  21. @Mr. Boston So sorry to hear about your friend's passing. @JazzyV Vanessa I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I don't think an air mattress will help you. It is very hard to maneuver after back surgery so the chair is probably the best thing to sleep or if you can get a hospital bed in your downstairs that may work too. I did need a higher toilet -we ended up putting one in but if you don't have one they do make a seat with handles. I think if your doctor writes an RX Medicare will pay for these things. Sandy glad to hear your sister is out of surgery. Some suggestions for her since the sling is horrible (I broke my shoulder during Covid - so I know). She should make sure she gets a smooth cotton cloth to put between her body and the sling where it rubs - it gets very uncomfortable. I also used corn starch powder before putting on the sling/cotton kerchiefs to protect my shoulder/neck from the rubbing. I know she will be given pain meds but the thing that really helps is the ice - I know some people actually get an ice thing where they can put their arm/shoulder to help with the pain/healing. I wish her good luck with the healing since that is the hard part of this. Like @Nickelpenny if you do the PT you do get back all your motion w/o pain but boy does the PT hurt!! @kochleffel I hope you don't have any more falls. I forgot to say congratulations on your instructor's comments. I am sure they are well deserved. I love seeing all of the spring flowers. Thank you to all who post here.
  22. We have the HIA package and I am wondering how to use it to get waters in our stateroom. Do I have to go to the bars for bottled water and then bring it back to our room? TIA.
  23. Thinking of all of those with doctor's appointments today - I hope they go well. Sending healing thoughts to @StLouisCruisers sister, having surgery today and to all others facing procedures and living in pain. Last year at this time I was recovering from back surgery. I am so glad I had it since thank heavens I have been much better this year. I just hope that it works the same for @JazzyV. @Denise T I think you will enjoy seeing NH. My son and DIL live in Bedford, I am not sure where Terry's son lives but I think they also live in Southern NH. We looked to move up there but my DH doesn't like cold weather. I would move there in a nano second since I hate the heat. Not much on the agenda for today, just a doctor's appointment this afternoon. The weather has been perfect these last few days, cool mornings and nights and then in the low 80's during the day. I am dreading the summer but at least this summer we will be enjoying a long cruise with @StLouisCruisers and then staying up north for a bit to visit our kids and grandkids. I look forward to meeting her and her DH.
